I've been thinking on and off about this, and at one point tried very hard to code a blur function. Then the other night it came to me... and after lots of trial and error, I got even more than just one blur but 5! Hopefully this will be useful to someone else but me. ^_^

I had a motion blur demo as part of my particle sprite demo, if you want to look at it. It's actually pretty simple. At one point, during testing it, I used it in the actually map demo. All you have to do is set MotionBlur=1 or something, I forget. It used fullscreen additive blits. If you want a better, but slower motion blur, you could always use rotscaled additive blits to kind of give it a more indistinct feeling. I haven't tried your demo yet, but I'll give it a whirl.

edit: Holy cow, that's far, FAR more advanced than anything I did. It runs at a really great speed too! Some of those I'd NEVER use, but they are really cool nonetheless. :D Good job!

My fav. is the focal blur.

Yes, Focal Blur with a distance of 200 or so, and about 20 iterations looks really neat. After all the blurring tests I went through, it left me a little... disoriented. And the choppy framerate (7-14 fps) my computer gives likely didn't help.

Anyway, good work. I think I may even use the radial blur to make an FF7-esque transition effect. Who knows.

The rotational blur is incredible. Much kudos!

First person to make these into dizzying start-of-battle sequences gets a cookie.

thanks for the comments, expecially rysen's =p

I'm trying to make a focus blur that can be controlled, its basicly done, its just a matter of getting all the math to work together correctly which can easily turn into a game of trial and error. And with that will be something even cooler. stay tuned ^_^
