Gott im Himmel.
My buggy, ugly, weird-ass game is back. So it seems. I was convinced that the only people in the world with copies of v.5 were Skall and my ex-girlfriend.
Umm.. wow. I'm a little shocked that people continue to play and enjoy this game. But thank you. All credit is due to Skall for harassing me via e-mail to check out this "revival", and maybe get involved, work schedule allowing. Skall, you're a persistent bugger, and a flattering one. You kick ass. Thank you so much for pouring so much energy into this project. I am still mildly shocked you thought so strongly of this game.
Anyway. Old vergers and new, do thank Skall for getting the dessicated corpse of Deicide off its feet. I still am convinced it's a cliche-ridden, sub-par piece of doo-hickey, and I doubt I'll ever get around to finishing it. If I do, White Wolf and their horned legions will probably kill me and use my sun-bleached bones for toothpicks. But hell, who knows.
This is far too spammy. Again, Skall, McGrue, other folks, thanks a frigging kajillion.
More later.

Heh, I figured this would lure you out of hiding.
And yes, I did feel that strongly about the game. That's not to say that all the criticism I sent your way wasn't warranted (I did mean every word of it), but even if you didn't listen to any of it, Deicide would've still been a rather bitchin' cup of tea. I just figured it could've used some sugar, or whatever else you like putting in tea, to make it better.

The cut-off screen is WinVerge1's doing, as it looks normal when emulating the original .exe (which I didn't include in the zip so as not to confuse people).

Torquemada: No, thank YOU for making the game in the first place. There's a lot here and it's pretty good, except for the fact that some of the quests make no goddamn sense. :P
Skall: Thanks for the help again. I accidentally bought the 4th mirror when my inventory was full, so I guess I'll have to go back a bit...
Torquemada: I had to adjust my monitor some to see it all. If it didn't work then, I don't know what to say. Does winverge1 have a windowed mode?

For Thrasher, or anyone else who never played v.2 back in the day: What do you think? Be brutally honest, bearing in mind that I know the graphics suck and the plot in large part is ripped off from aspects of the White Wolf and Shadowrun cosmologies. I've heard about those sins against the gaming community (har har) but as to any other comments and critiques.. I'm interested. Whatcha think?

Oh, and if you're wondering how my inventory got full, I exploited the Percian water bug and bought all the scrolls in the apothecary. :P

Thrasher, I've just been playing it with the truncated text boxes, sucking it up. If (for some godforsaken reason) Skall and I decide to continue revamping this hulk of a game, that's the first thing to be addressed.
As for the plots making no sense, Feywood told me again and again to get rid of the stupid "mix the magic potion" plots. But did I listen? No. That's what happens when you play too many Sierra adventure games as a kid. (In fact I'm sure the debt I owe to the Sierra puzzle dynamic is obvious. Hell, the motherboard 'puzzle' is a direct rip-off of a similar scene in Space Quest 7. Or was it 6?) But I daresay the game has a sense of humor about it all.
And seven years later I still think Leanna is a fine, fine young lady. Nothing like a girl who can hold her alcohol.

Hey, what happened to Feywood, anyway? Did he ever go off and make that archetypal mind-blowing adventure game that was to cow me and fill me with jealousy, awe and mild lustfulness? (Just kidding about the last bit. Honestly.) Inquiring minds want to know.

I played the original v1 Deicide demo back when it came out, in all its buggy glory. The rest of the game looks like more of the same, so I'm not qualified to comment as such. I probably wouldn't have played a v1 game today if it wasn't one I knew was already good (for a v1 game).
And Feywood? After he got tired of idling in #verge for so long, I guess he dropped off the face of the planet. I haven't seen him in a while.

I don't think Feywood stuck around for too long after we disappeared. Not that our exodus had anything to do with his, but that's how I recall things.
Anyway, I'd briefly recap all the things I once said about your Deicide demos, but that would probably once again make you lose interest in the game, so I'll zip it for now.

Feywood dropped off the face of the planet, eh?
Look at your keyboard as you type "Grue" and pay attention to each key immediately to the left of each letter.
DUN DUN DUN.

Anyways, I have wondered where the tyke went off too. Probably devoured by his marriage or something.

AHAHA. pwnt!
Also, literally having nothing to critique must've made him feel unnecessary.
Funny to think that we have a ton more verge games coming out these days with fewer broader scoped games with a webpage full of promise and a handful of potential that marked the v1 era. Fun stuff.
