Best quote -- "the first finished game using Verge, a new and promising RPG creation program."

Yeah. Right. About that.

Sweet! Thanks for the post.

I just recently got barraged by Diver Down emails, and I've been wondering where they were coming from. Now I know.

Trucidation

Think maybe putting a brief hints page together might be a good idea cause there are some places that can be a tad tricky, and I don't exactly feel good about emailing the guys who put it together -- I do something along similar lines and it's way easier to handle stuff on a forum instead of having to reply to 100s of emails asking the same thing.

My $0.02... and right now I'm stuck at the Freelands looking for that lady selling desert masks who got kicked out from the camp ~ can't find her :/

She's in the town map. but outside the walls. You don't need her, but you obviously lose life in the Weeping Sands without her. It's partially a trade-off though, because equipping the desert masks lowers your defense, so the monsters in that region are pretty tough. That's probably the last REALLY hard part in the game, I think.

And I'm always open to emails. I meant to add questions to the FAQ and build that up after release, but I got busy with things. I always answer my mail tho.

Way to go. :D
I should find time to play through the rest of the game... -.-;
But my laptop died and I am sad. ;.;

First finished game using Verge my ass! What about Zeux! Wasn't that finished?

Mythril

Hum yeah, you should give them a mail about Zeux. :D And Shippu. Any others?

The point was that the quote was entirely wrong. Verge ain't new neither.

There are several finished verge games. Many of these are minigames and compo games and may not really be finished in any way except that they will not be worked on anymore.

Zeux is probably the first REAL finished verge game ever. I'm not sure if anyone counts Sully, which could technically be the first complete verge rpg. Then there are other v1 rpgs that get kinda long and claim to be finished (the one with the fire guy?, land of the little people?, others...).

So it's hard for me to say that Diver Down is the first complete verge rpg. In some ways it is, but I'm sure that would be open to argument. I took the definite (and easy) way out by saying that DD is the first complete v2 rpg released. I guess these guys didn't pay attention to the qualifiers and just wrote what they remembered.

What about Blimpo Warrior? I thougt that one was finished as well. I have not finished it myself, but it is REALLY long, and a peek at the files shows me that it has code and maps for a ton more scenarios, including several boss battles, and even the final battle.

Also, there is an interview with Zara where he states so.

I even think BW is the first finished Verge game if you don't count Sully.

ya, that's the one I meant. Isn't the main guy a flame or something?

Posted on 2004-04-08 01:57:09

Sheng_Long_Gradilla

No. It' a furball. It may look like a flame at first sight, and you might think it is a flame if you don't spend at least 1 or 2 minutes playing.
