Dear Grenideer (and/or anyone):
I am trying to get through an area of the Mines where I cannot see my avatar. This area is just below a large log that blocks my upward path. How do I continue at this area? I am using the Windows version of Diver Down. I shall greatly appreciate any help regarding this matter.
Respectfully:
C. M. Dratz

Hmm, you're gonna need to be more specific. You can't see Drek? Why not? Where is he? Did something cave in blocking your access? Are you sure you're supposed to be going that way? What was the very last thing you did?

grenideer:
1) Yes, yes I cannot see Drek. I walk left to an area with numbered blocks South of a Pool of Water that has about five incomplete crossings.
2) As soon as I step Westward away from the Northward hall with the large log blocking further passage Northward toward some of the blocks, pool and incomplete crossings that are in view, the view skips North-West toward the pool and incomplete crossings and leaves Drek out of view to the South. (I can walk him North and into view but the numbered blocks are {semi?}permanently out of view.)
3) Yes, yes the Log by the Pool blocks passage Northward, two Logs closer to the Mines' entrance block passage Eastward and Westward, the Elevator is (temporarily?) inoperable, the Elevator Control Room Door is locked, and the possible workaround to the West of the Northwardly obstructing Log with the Numbered Blocks, Partial Bridges and Pool of Water seems very difficult as all five blocks are forcibly out of view.
4) Yes, yes I cannot enter the Desert as I cannot seem to dismount my steed. I cannot enter the Red Tower. I cannot Sail Southward from the Small Dock. I cannot re-enter the Outpost Westward from the Town to re-cross the Bridge.
5) I Departed South-South-Westward from the Mines to the Town to purchase three Desert Masks for the two men and one elf.
Also, I have discovered that the Windows Edition of Diver Down may require some of the DOS Edition's Directory Structure to be intact for loading the Music started just after using the Key in the opening Dungeon. Diver Down Windows Edition repeatably exited with a message to the effect that Diver Down Win could not find music file 'X'. I could not extract that song from the Diver Down Win .vrg archive but had to Download Diver Down DOS and extract its music directory into the Diver Down Win directory. You may want to investigate this problem and change slightly Diver Down Win to load music only from the .vrg archive and not the uncreated music\ directory or fully extract the .vrg archives into their directories and files.

Oooh, a Diver Down bug thread? Did you know that if you go back to the tunnel leading to the elemental puzzle dungeon in Chapter 4, you see the ending scene of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 begins again? :D

There are some weirdnesses with the packers, but the windows packer should work fine. The directory structure is inside the packfile. What OS are you using?

Your problem with the dungeon is probably something to do with your video card. Those two rooms (one to the left that you are entering, and one to the right that you need to enter right afterwards) are puzzle rooms and double the resolution of the game. It sounds like your resolution isn't changing at all. A lot of older video cards have trouble with this part but usually they just crash. And going from 320x240 to 620x480 should be possible on your video card.

You have a couple options. I would recommend trying to play through these rooms on another computer. They are puzzles so they may not be automatic. Once you complete them both you'll be fine. If this is impossible, maybe send your savefile right before the rooms to a kindly verger in this forum and they could complete the two puzzles for you, exit the second room, and save right after that, giving you back your savefile. You won't miss any story or anything important at all, just two cool puzzles.

Normally I would do this for you but I don't have internet at my new apartment yet and I really shouldn't do that at work. It should only take 5 minutes of someone's time if they want?

There is one other sequence in the game when the resolution changes, but it is only in a cut scene for several seconds and requires nothing on your part. If your comp doesn't crash you'll be fine.

grenideer:
1) I use Windows XP Professional Edition.
2) Double resolution 320*240 is (not 620, but) 640*480. I see that it may be that you are allowing 20 pixels of space for a side-docked-taskbar or the like at 620 horizontal pixels.
3) I have modified the Diver Down configuration file regarding this puzzle to resolution 640*480, windowed mode. I may now fully see the area.
4) The cutscene should display properly now.

I've finally gotten to the chapter 4 section where i am supposed to enter the red tower, after trying to use the staff it says im supposed to talk to someone, but gives no indication who, so i figured i could get back by the subterranian route, but the glitch there tells it im in chapter 3 for some reason. Going to the castle is out, ive gone everywhere and talked to everyone that i can think of, from the pirate island to the guild to the arena town and no one has any info for me, can you please drop me a bone, pretty please???

Hahah, the accidental chapter 4 restart. That's a hilarious bug.

The guy you want to talk to is in the guildhouse.

Man, I really thought I fixed that but I keep getting reports about that bug. That's a big enough bug that I probably need to go and update the game. Which sucks, cause I haven't touched that code in months. (And really wanted to be done with it).

Ya dude, check the guild member in the hunter's guild house (the leftmost room in the trade outpost). All he does the whole game is talk about the red tower! I figure you wouldn't need any hints for that ;).

Anyway, hope you like the ending of the game.

Ah, but before the ending, he has to do the INVISIBLE WALL ROOM!!!!

I have Win XP and computer is IBM Thinkpad R50e
The problem is that when I run the game then the screen is divided into four pictures.
I wanted to make a screenshot to show how it looks, but when I past it on the paint it pastes only the left upper picture.
How can I make it run in small window ?
Thank you.

Overkill

Sounds like 320x240 fullscreen doesn't work for you?

Okay, so, open up winv2.cfg. Set change "windowmode" to 1 instead of 0. If you want a double sized window with smooth scaling, set "eagle" to 1 as well.
