As much as part of me hates making Wooly share the spotlight (nice stuff there, by the way), I've been planning a December 5 rerelease of Epic of Serinor for several weeks now, and competition isn't enough to make me push back those plans. So sorry, Wooly, but you're going to have to share.

Epic of Serinor's three month update release has been completed and uploaded for public perusal. My team members have done excellent work in helping me improve this from its initial state, and I wanted to share the work they've done with everybody. So here it is. Any comments are, of course, greatly appreciated.

All save games from the initial version will still work with this update. HOWEVER, I packed the files to make it look cleaner, so it has to be downloaded to a fresh directory. Don't unzip it to your old Serinor directory!! Unzip it to a new directory and move your old save games (serinor1.sav-serinor5.sav) into the new directory. Everything should work just fine then.

So there it is. Enjoy!

Crashes for me when it gets to the new game/load game screen after a second or two :\

Tried full screen mode as well but then it locks up the computer instead of just bringing up the 'close program' box, using windows 98.

Man, that cave is brutal. I made two runs on it and didn't explore nearly all.

lol, yeah the cave is annoying to navigate. But me ang Gayo could probably cheat and see the map, hehehehehe. But the funny thing is that the first time i played, i was like crap, i need a torch. So i go back to Gelaham, get the magic for the wizard that makes torches appear and I go to the cave to use it. To my great surprise, it was the weakest torch ever! -_-

I'm pretty sure he means the Abandoned Cloister, Syn. The one that's balanced against a level 8-10 party. And yeah, a couple places in the demo--mostly the Abandoned Cloister, though Thovas Cathedral and Hye-Liallaa can catch you off-guard if you aren't expecting them--are a bit tough for a party capped at level 5. The plan is to have the party able to reach Amunash, recruit Halflings, and raise the level cap around level 4, but that's not done yet. So a couple places will be rough. They can be done, though; Dratz and I have completed all the quests. Just takes a bit of extra fighting up after hitting the cap.

If the game won't run, try going here. There's a troubleshooting section down at the bottom. What I think would solve your problem, anonymous, is downloading the source (go here) and change releasemode to 0 in verge.cfg.

Hi!
I`m not quite finish with your game yet :) But it`s going well. I think I'll have to level up my chr a bit before I'm ready to beat some boss (I don`t want to spoil anything).

I think I found a bug cause when I die and go back to where I last saved, there is no random battle anymore. Just wanted to let you know :)

Nice game with lot of space to explore.

Interesting....that never happened to me. Does it happen wherever you die, or only in certain places?

If what I just fixed is the problem (and I believe it is; the step tracker that tracks things like battles, or poison, or darkness isn't being rehooked on party death), then it happens every time. If it's not, then the problem runs deeper, and I've got more issues than I'd like to think about.

For now, just save and restart when it happens; it'll fix it regardless of what the problem actually is, and you're right at the save point anyway. I'd also recommend not dying in general. Bad for the complexion.

It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
