Hello everyone,

I've created a little demo with a map and menu system for a project I'm working on. It's not really ready for release just yet, but I figured I might as well post since the boards have been looking at tad dead lately.

Get it here.

Enjoy,
John

The menu looked good to me, but why do you have it starting out with such a weird control configuration? Seems like it'd be much better off to start it off with a more standard control (particularly for people like me who like to use game controllers).

Thanks. I do intend to implement a more standard control scheme; it is the way it is now because I'm still testing the control customization page on the third config menu page, and because I still haven't coded up a movement script that allows for custom controls.

jhree, I have a joystick abstraction layer I should make publically available. If you're interested in using it, let me know.

Wooly used it in his war of fire demo. It allows for custom configuration of the keys by the user.

I forget if it's in the current version of Sully. I should release a new Sully soon...

Awesome menu demo jrhee. You've got the FF6 menu system working almost flawlessly. But I do agree that the control scheme is awkward for joystick users. :D

grue: I'd be very interested in seeing that. Let me know where I can find details. You can email me privately at rheej@eden.rutgers.edu if you'd prefer that to the boards.

rpgking: Thanks! Again, the control scheme is in a temporary stage. I intend to have joypad support implemented for a later release.

Wow, so well made it almost gave me goosebumps. It seems so much like the real thing. Good job! Hopefully it will find a good home in a nice game.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone.

I've put an update up. This time it features a spiffy new textbox and (customizable) joypad support. Get it here.

I had to borrow my friends old sidewinder to test the joypad stuff, and only had a day to code and test with it, so I'm guessing there's probably some problems. If anyone has a joypad, try it out and let me know if anything's broken? Thanks.

And stay tuned for a battle system. Sometime =]
