Hiya! I'm the oddly-named Generic Function X (GFX is acceptable, due to insane name-length, lol). I'm a little bit of a procrastinator, but I have the one-page version of the VC tutorial and I plan to make something of it in due time (mind you that I've never done any programming or scripting before) and get something started.
I've attempted to use RPG Maker before, which I found to be nice, but just oh-so-limited and unfit for my purposes. I attempted RPGds when the site was open, and found it to be unfit for my laptop (apparently, the developer wants only NASA supercomputers to run it or something), and ika (not quite 'complete' enough imho, though no offense, looks like it will be awesome), and then I found Verge3.
Let me just say: Thank you for keeping it simple and not having autotiles... those things are the bane of success. All-in-all, I like what I've used of it thus far, and I look forward to seeing what the future brings. ^_^

It's an automatic tile placement thingymabobber. It fills in the correct border pieces when you lay down tiles. I think it totally speeds up the map-making process. Maped needs it!
Here's a video:

White Mage, what didn't you like about autotiling? I'm prepared to say that it's the only good thing about RPG Maker!

I just... I guess I just feel that ordinary, non-autotile mapping is best for me. I've used RMVX, and just about half, at least, of the tiles are autotiles. Different types of terrain end up clashing with one another instead of blending properly... yuck, it's just a mapping mess, really.
...That's my first impression, anyway, though I doubt I'll be going back any time soon now that I've found Verge!

That said, it's great for getting tiles into place before you tidy it up - it's not a feature you really appreciate till you've tried making a map by manually laying every tile.
