Mind if I plug one of my favorite game-design resources? www.gamasutra.com (I'm to tired to try to remember how to do links right now :P ) is an online zine with most exellent game design articles. A special favorite of mine is the 'Bad game designer! No Twinkie!' articles, which put in gruesomely humorous deatil what NOT to do in/to a game. Also interesting are details on the goings-on inside groupd who developed 'big name' games, like Neverwinter Nights, and why it was so late :P

You might have to get an account with the site to read the articles, but I've had one for years now and haven't been spammed or anything like that.

well, yeah. I find it useful.

Seconded. That's a wonderful site.

Also you do links with html.

Gamasutra tends to have pretty good articles. There was a nice breakdown of vector quantization as a compression scheme a couple of years ago, which inspired Air to make his own (much faster and more effective) version.

Not that the authors are always in top form. There was an Ernest Adams article recently that started off as a discussion on simple game design and ended up being a gushfest review of adventures in infinite space.

It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
