Ok, I have made a page for a compo starting August 1, ending August 21. You may all join now. Exact Rules TBA, but expect to make an RPG if you can, because you will need to have a story for maximum points. If ika.sf.net wants to take it over, all teams will be added (by me if no one else) to the new compo. If v-rpg takes it over, but restricts the kind of engines, all applicable teams will be added (by me if no one else) to the new compo. So join now if you want to be in the compo.

That said, I need volunteer judges for the compo. I only need 2, so volunteer now (email me at tomt64ATtomt64DOTcom, rather than posting here). You have to be able to run ika, Verge 3, sphere, and Fury2 (Kael/Hiretsukan's engine). If you need to test Fury2, download the game at this link:

http://compo.tomt64.com/Dec03/chimaera_winter_2k3_v11.exe

The compo page is here:

http://compo.tomt64.com/

For those of you new to my compo page, you can add your team all on your own, change your team's info on your own, and, if you decide after a certain amount of time you're not entering, you can set your team's statues to "Not Entering". You can also delete your submissions or rename them.

I also need some people to test some new code I'm working on for this, so if you want to do that email me (tomt64ATtomt64DOTcom).

I was pretty sure everyone in the previous compo wanted a bit of downtime to rest and finish up their projects.

Then THOSE people don't have to participate. The show must go on.

Anyhow most of the people that have joined my compo in the past have used sphere or ika. Verge people either dropped or did not join. So in a sense, I AM offering verge as an engine to use, but given the multi-engine nature of the compo, I don't EXPECT that they would choose verge over an engine they're comfortable with.

Umm THOSE people are the people you're announcing this to, aren't they?

Not exactly, THOSE people, the ones who need a break, are welcome to it. However I don't think EVERYONE who participated in any of the previous compos this summer need a break.

Technetium

The only other RPG project (besides Phobos Project which I already entered in a compo) I am working on has no plot at all, and I have too many projects to consider starting something new yet again. Good luck to those who want to give this a try, though.

I'm not usually one to complain, but this IS a really bad time for another compo. Everone needs a break. Even if someone enters a verge 3 game, it will likely not be very good because the regular verge junkies are resting. Give us a break TomT. :P

This is precisely why I made it all engines. Because normally verge people don't enter anyway....

Also, I need to know if this is a joke or not (McGrue?):

Team name: KEVLARRR tm JUSTISE
Members: vekna, tatsoomi, mcgraw
Engine: vekna's extrordinarrry rrroleplaying gaem engien 4

It's a joke, a poor one, and not of our origin, son.

Looks like your contestants are rather mature.

All engines? Someone should submit a DOOM wad.

As long as all the judges will have an opportunity to actually USE said engine, without much effort (and without spending money), any engine can be used. I think there's a free DOOM out there, but it's go to work for the judges, so Linux may not be acceptable.

If you didn't notice yet, the compo has started. We've already got 9 teams signed up, but verge isn't represented! I'm sure someone is willing to participate.

For info on the teams and rules, go to the compo site. (Please sign up!)

Seriously. Someone?

You're making verge look bad! :(

I don't think VERGE looks bad from this. Like previously mentioned, we've had a string of compos over here, and everyone's a bit tired.

LOL@random.ika-user, go code in some silly indentation-based language instead of trying to bother our sleeping brood.

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
Verge-rpg.com is a member of the lunarnet irc network, and would like to take this opportunity to remind you that regardless how babies taste, it is wrong to eat them.
