I was thinking a coding style faq to help new people (and older people who are not C programmers)
like hints on what kind of indentation and spacing to use.
when and how to make comments.
when to make something global.
how to name varibles.
how to increase genericity.

the aim of it whould not to step on any toes but to lessen the amout of debugging those who read it have to do.

so any thoughts?

That would be keen! A lot of the docs currently presume some basic programming knowledge that a lot of newbies probably won't have. These kinds of faqs would be very useful to them ^_^

Hm... the only bits of the docs that a really comrehensive enough for a programming newb are Operators and Variables.
I'd say it's a good idea to have generally more newb friendly basic sections here, rather than having a whole new doc juts on style - as I'm sure it wouldn't be #1 on people's read list, even if it should be. So, certainly the material is needed, but I'd try to integrate it into the basic doc rather than making a new one. (As a side note, there's a brief section on naming variables at the bottom of that section)
