I am trying to figure out some reasonable entity caps for this thing I'm making. All the characters are drawn using alpha stuff, so I need to be pretty careful about how much crap I'm throwing on the screen at once.

So here is a thing that draws 50 guys + the hud! Tell me what kind of framerates you guys yet. On my system, I get about 120 with just one guy, and about 60 when all 50 are being drawn. But I have a pretty nice processor, and I can't reasonably expect that people playing my verge game will have an athlon x2 3800+.

I'm probably never going to actually have 50 guys on screen at once, but figuring out an actual red-line, it'll help my level planning.

SDHawk

165-170 with one guy, 80-85 fps with all 50. I suppose I'm not too useful in this but oh well.

Athlon 64 3800+ (not dual-core).

I get a pretty solid 47 fps with all of the guys on the screen. I have a 2.53 GHz P4.

Omni

37 FPS. Slow, but it's smooth...

...1.7 Ghz Pentium M (think a late model Pentium 4, but trimmed down with some power management features later integrated into Core Duo). My 2003 laptop is beginning to feel a little dated...

I'm getting around 30FPS on my Athlon64 3000, though it fluctuates.

Seems a little low, but I wonder if the fact I'm running VIsta explains it.

ErayMan

On my desktop Athlon 64 3800+
1 guy: ~90fps
50 guys: ~60 fps

On my laptop Pentium M, 1600ghz
1 guy: 115fps
50 guys: ~50fps

How did my laptop outperformed my desktop on the 1guy test, I shall never know.
Hope that helps.
