hey... i'm wondering if anyone knows a way of converting v1 chrs to v3 chrs. or at the least, might anyone have the chrtopcx utility for v1?

As I recall, Ric Lau's ACE(Advanced character Editor) will handle the duty of turning your CHR's back into PCX format, and Darin's MAK file, as included with the V3 distribution should be able to turn that back into a V3 CHR for you.

I don't know if ACE is on VergeRPG.com, but you should still be able to retrieve it from Extended Play.

Overkill
MAKmak.

A project that I started, and ended up giving up to zip. It makes MAK+BAT creation easy, and CHR creation is on the TODO. It utilizes the mouse, clickable text, and text fields. Hotspots are easily designated, by simply clicking and dragging. Idle frames will be settable by merely clicking on the frame you want as idle. Animation string editing and viewing is also on the TODO. V2 chr format and hicolor V2 chr format are also in the works.

This will prove to be the most useful character sprite creation utility out there. Zip just doesn't feel like releasing it as-is currently.

Anyway, I hope that appealed to some people who dislike editing .MAK files by hand.
