I'm going to create a hack'n'slash side-scrolling rpg an d I have no idea how to script, so i'm requesting some scripts to work with these sprites:
found here : http://www.rrrevolution.com/visuals/displayimage.php?pid=1346&fullsize=1

pressing left/right to move, up to execute spells, and down to defend

Could anyone fullfill these requests?

Code

Hmm, that's from White Ties, isn't it?

That's a pretty tall order. If you're unfamiliar with scripting, take a look at some of the Beginner's Resources. Most of them are very easy to understand.

The last example in the Hello World tutorial can start you off with a simple platformer system.

Overkill

I suppose you could also use the code from my platformer if you can figure it out: http://ovk.actionsketch.com/1hrcompo/Sunday%20August%202005%20Compo%202/Overkill%20-%20My%20Two%20Bits.rar

Obviously, this code would need quite some deal of tweaking and adding of new stuff on your part, but it shouldn't be too hard if you know how to program already. Otherwise, you're going to probably be in a bad position since sidescroller RPGs take quite a bit of code.

Oh boy, this will suck, i'm have no idea how to code and looking at scripts make my head spin.
i usually copy & paste stuff with scripts.

Then you should maybe take a bit of time off. Familiarize yourself with programming in general -- learn how to play sounds, display and rotate a sprite, or switch some maps.

Since the holidays are coming up [and hopefully holiday breaks], you could possibly use the time to program AND simultaneously play some good 2D platformers. GBA and DS have some platformers out, and GBA games are a good Christmas request. Or, if you've got NES/SNES games available, just play through one or two.

While you're learning to program, pull together some ideas you'd like, at most, getting inspired, and at least, the real gaming would probably keep your sanity intact while you learn.

Then, whenever you're ready (sooner or later, but get comfortable with coding simple things first) start examining how to code a platformer engine.

Languages are of course different, but there are good open-source examples written in C/SDL, Python/Pygame, and even the old Verge2. Zaratustra, who made the V2 Zeux World platformer, also made a small game called 4Four, an excellent V2 platformer, that has source included. I'm sure there's an example or two if you search through http://www.gamedev.net or on Google, too.

But learn how to program first. Small steps seem to go by much faster when you get the hang of it.

i have a whole crapload of side-scrolling gba and snes games, and have you ever played super ninja boy?
I'm trying to get my game basically like that, and i'm going to take programming classes in tenth grade, hopefully i'll learn good there.

Could anyone submit any scripts, including a space to attack one? That would help me alot now.

You don't need a programming class to program [EDIT: well, if you're doing it professional, then technically you do]. You can learn just as much by a good independent attempt.

What's a "space to attack" script?

I'm guessing "press spacebar to execute attack sequence".

I'm taking a programming class this year, AP Computer Science, and thanks to VERGE for starting me out, I can sleep during class and still be able to ace tests and know everything while my classmates writhe in pain trying to understand what the teacher is saying.

Life is good...

And really, trying to learn VERGE will help you in learning C. And once you've done that, most programming classes are nothing.

Oh. I thought he was talking about surface to air missiles or something.
