Just wondering... If an image is 8-bit, that means it can only have up to 256 colors, right?

The F.A.Q. says that the PCX format is limited to 8-bit, but I have PCX images that I use which contain far more than 256 colors (640x480 images which did not appear to change saving it as a PCX from the layered PSD version).

PCX's aren't limited to 8 bit... So I suppose the FAQ must be mistaken... Maybe it's an intentional mistake by Zip to keep us on our toes... :)

Tech. This is a link that I put with PCX in the faq that clearly states I was talking bollocks: More information Wikipedia
Links are for clicking on and proving I can't transcribe information correctly. As a side point, anyone who admits to using 24bit PCX needs their head examined. By the picky police.

(As a less arsey and moar educational note, the PCX 24bit format is comparitavely recent, and all traditional uses are of 8bit palletted colour, for instance the the original verge chr format)
