I've noticed an odd quirk in Verge 3. I've been working a lot on the main title screen to my game (was "Vortex", is now retitled "Phobos Project"), and on a textbox function. Now, I have all these things working and looking great, but there's a problem still. Getting all of this to work has required many repeated compiles and running of the exe. I've noticed that each time, there is a gradual build in lag on my machine. After a while it gets to the point where I can't even bring windows explorer to focus and I have to restart. I was wondering... if I use alt-X to get out of Verge, does it free everything I've loaded (images, music, etc)? That's the only thing I can think of that would be causing the problem.
Also, I have noticed that after running Verge 3 a few times, I cannot run my older Verge 2.6 games without restarting. Very strange indeed.

It seems to do that to me as well. Even if I run it once, eventually (like an hour later) the lag will kick in and I will be forced to restart, or sometimes it will be too late. If I run V3 multiple times, it's very likely to happen. It doesn't matter on the type of exit, as it still leaves the same way, except the exit message is "ALT-X pressed" or something.
Well, speaking of lag, it seems to want to do that to me right now. Something obviously isn't being freed, if it causes the effect to accumulate as you run it more.

Hmm. I haven't noticed anything like this happen to me yet.
BTW, what OS are you guys using? I'm running win2k pro and I checked my memory usage a couple of times before and after running Verge3. I really didn't notice any discrepancies...

My XP system has slow memory leaks no matter what I'm doing. For me its a minor enough problem, I only have to reboot every week or so. Sure seems like it must be a bigger issue for you guys to notice it. Windows is supposed to release the resources of processes when they terminate, but obviously it doesnt always work that way.
I wonder if there are any common threads in your guys hardware/OS configurations.

I have XP, and 1 GB of ram (which is why this problem really surprises me).

I have 166mhz computer (no MMX), Win98, 64 MB of ram. It makes sense that it do that on an old PC, and I can't afford a good one. It had the same slow-down issue with WinV2, but it wasn't near as big a build-up.

In a couple of months a good computer buy on the internet will likely be $200-$250, maybe less.

You can get a decent machine in the 1.5ghz range for that much now.
