As most of you know, I'm a musician. But for this compo, our entry will be needing sound effects (ungh). So, does anyone know a good way to do sound effects? I'd rather make my own than rip them or something, but are there some good programs for sound editing I should check out? Or any other advice about sound effects in general would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

*EDIT*
Hopefully there isn't another thread somewhere like this. Direct me to it kindly if there is. Thanks.

Cooledit 2000 has a number of features for altering/creating sounds. To use (*ahem* test) all the features you must sometimes save, close, re-open, select other feature groups, but it works. Just remember to always select "save" as one of your two feature groups.

Sound Forge. The ONLY way to spend a million bucks.

Scratch that, it looks like sound forge has been integrated and remade into Sony Digital's premier product, Vegas 5. I think it's recently been marked down to only 600 bucks.

Gayo

Dude, for 600 bucks you could commission your own sound effects.

That's why it's 600 bucks. The people that MAKE the sound effects are the people that own that. :p

It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
