I wonder how you people do stat growth.
I know most of you make some huge table and have that indicate stat growth level by level, but is there any way to directly plug a person's level into some sort of equation and have it return stat growth?
And if so, what type of equation would you use.
Linear equations, exponential equations, polynomial equations, or something entirely different?

What kind of growth you want depends entirely on your system and the effect you want levelling to have. So, uh, I can't help you there since I know nothing about the game.

About the 'plugging numbers in' thing, though -- if you don't want to come up with an exact formula (or if you want to use a bunch of different formulae and don't want to explicitly define all of them) I recommend zaril's trimods.

Battle system design is a dark art! Be careful in it.... Gayo has some horror stories from IRC RPG Battle Systems that he should share sometime.

What Gayo said. The Trimod Editor is all about making growth/diminishment easier. Instead of thinking formulaic you can just draw your graphs. There are some sample files as well.

Best of luck, and if anything, just ask.

*sigh*
Unfortunately, that's the only way I think about anything that involves growth and decay is formulaically. Or cheesecake. Maybe sausage links, if the conditions are correct.
