Erm, hello. I'm new, I've just begun using to Verge3 today. So far I like what I see, I've been using GameMaker for awhile but really want more flexibility that Verge can hopefully provide :)

Now my question is, is it possible to make your game a standalone .EXE? Or must to use the verge.exe, with the verge icon, and the extremely short splash screen? Not that I have a problem with giving credits for the engine or whatever, I just thought it would be nicer to have abit more control over the exe.

Well, you can always rename verge.exe to whatever you like. It'll still run just fine (I do this myself, in fact).

The extremely short "compiling" splash screen is only shown it's actually compiling. If you run in release mode (check out verge.cfg) that won't be shown. (Though it is good form in a complete game to have some sort of verge-related something in the start up.)

As for the verge icon... well, you might be able to just use the Windows shell to set a different icon? I'm not sure if that carries over to other computers when you distribute it. Barring that, it's pretty trivial to simply recompile verge.exe with a different icon in the file resources. If you're not feeling the desire to download/fire up Visual Studio and do this yourself, if you had a game in a "for-real-finished" state, I'm sure that someone would be willing to do it for you.

I hope that helps! :)

Thank you, that does help :)

I would always keep the "Verge" splash, but I thought it was too fast for anyone to see it so was deemed useless, but now that I know that's it just the compiling screen.

Is their some sort of premade Verge splash screen/code that can be easily added to a finished game? Something like nintendo xD

There is!

...

It's made by Zaril. I thought it was in the downloads section but I can't seem to find it! Maybe someone else can direct you towards it.

It's also packaged with Sully, so just copy/paste the v3splash packfile into your game directory, mount it, and CallFunction("v3splash").

actually, the verge splash screen is just shown for the time that it takes to compile. that's why it says: compiling.

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
