I have an old computer where ninja balloons and zeux world are not working :/.
I get module errors in kernel32.dll
The computer has:
OS: Windows 98
Platform: VIA 600 mhz
Sound Card: dunno, good enough
Video Card: ASUS 7100 MAGIC Geforce2 32MB
Hard Drive: Seagate(I think) 3.2GB
64 MB RAM
??x CD Drive
P.S. Is this really my first post? I swear I'd posted here once or twice four years ago.

Do you have the latest version of DirectX installed (DirectX 9.whatever)? Some of your specs are WAY better than mine, and I can say both of those games run perfectly on my Pentium 166mhz with no MMX instruction set. Try installing DirectX, then try again.
Also, the site only counts posts on the new message board, and the ones in the archived section (ie. the site from about 4 years ago) don't add up to anything.

Well I do now and it's still not helping :/
I still get kernel32.dll errors.

Weird! Do you use your PC to play other games? Does it act strange playing those? It could just be you might need to reinstall Windows, since all winv2 and Verge3 need are some version of DirectX installed to run. The kernel does weird things now and then for me too.

Yeah, the PC plays Diablo II, Half-Life, Quake, Orion II, Heroes of Might and Magic III, Star Craft, stuff like that.
And no, I got no problem playing those.
and I have installed win98 and windowsME, after seeing win95 didn't work on it, but both had no other effect.

Can you post the text of the errors that you're getting?

You can read the code of invalid page fault errors?
I'm at home which is an half hour long bike ride away from my students'club andlazy right now.
It's one of these errors if you were just curious.
Except that mine begins with the fourth word (invalid) and it has different hexadecimal numbers.
Oh, also, with winv2 the error starts immediately while the logo of verge3 runs until the verge3 logo ends.. well at least with balloon ninja's :).

You mean, the crash occurs after the logo has been there for a while? This logo is displayed until compilation is finished. So, we know basic things are working, since we're compiling for a bit, and DirectX drawing is working OK, since the logo shows up, so I'd bet sound is the problem; how up-to-date are your audio drivers? Try editing verge.cfg to include the line
nosound 1
And see if it still crashes.

Man, for a moment there I thought that "of course, that's it!".
Edited the config.cfg and added nosound 1..
They still crashed
The sound card is an ALS4000.
The driver files are:
AVSNDSYS.VXD version 4.05.00.320 (1999)
MMDEVLDR.VXD version 4.00.950 (1994-95)

Eeehh... Balloon Ninjas is releasemode, Jesse! The Verge3 logo that shows up is one of Zaril's splash packs. Sounds like maybe there's a particular bit of VergeC code that's messing up?
Sluimers: Have you tried any verge3 games other than Balloon Ninjas? And, just to make sure I'm not crazy, which verge logo did you see: This one or this one?

kildorf: Good point. Either way, though, I'd still have suspected sound as the issue. Unless there's sound during the splash.
I'd try a couple other games. You might try some of the really simple stuff available in utilities.

I made Balloon Ninjas with one of the very first builds of Verge3(If not THE very first), before the entity system was even in(I had to make my own entity-like system through VC). So maybe the problem is the old Verge3...
I don't know if sound would be the problem because it looks like he can see the entire splashscreen by Zaril, which has sound.
I'd be interested to know if sluimers is able to run some of the more recent games, then maybe we can narrow down the problem.

Sluimers, can you run the current version of Sully?
After that, I suggest trying everything that's been demo alarmed.
...well, as soon as Gayo finishes adding all of the demo alarms.

Too late now. Anyway, due to the enormously strange behaviour of the old computer disk drive and cd-rom I was only able to copy
Bounce and scale digits. (it doesn't have internet access. It is connected to four other computers, but all their disk drives died and their video cards are all so outdated, they can only run windows 95)
It gave an error right after verge's logo#1.
I can't remember what exactly the error was but it was something like: "verge caused invalid page fault in
module <unkown>"
Drat, I want this to work so much. They may be just plain old computers, but they belong to a gamers' club (mostly boardgames) of which I'm a member of. They sometimes play on these computers. They're those people that would play anything with a good gameplay/story, just like you would.
I just wish I could show them what kind of cool games I can make.
It would be great.
Well okay, so I haven't exactly ever made a game on verge ^_^;;;, but I know I can.

So uh, you say got it from a CD-ROM? Did you make sure the files weren't Read-Only when you ran Verge? It might not like that. I've done that in the past, where I forgot to turn off the Read-Only attributes on the files, and it wouldn't run Verge. I doubt that's it, but it could be possible!

Could you also perhaps try making your own Verge3 game, Sluimers?
I mean, like, say following Rysen's tutorial, where he takes you through the coding, step by step. Not that you desperately need hand-holding assistance, but perhaps if it is a particular piece of code or Verge3 function that is crashing Verge, you could discover it that way.
For example, if you were to make your own small Verge3 program that displayed a picture and exited when Enter was pressed, and it worked, then obviously the problem would not be with the Verge3 engine in general but with a certain piece of code that is being triggered by the games you run.

hmm, bouce and scale digits uses the most recent version of Verge3 so it must not be that.
It also have vccverbose on so I supose posting that could be helpful?
nosound is already set at 1 so it's also not that.
It's in windowmode so it's not the graphics card crapping out on attempting to play 320x240 either.
Does Sully work? or how about just the build of Verge3 that compiles and then exits with a message saying you have run verge?
