I have decided to use this program but I can not figure out the right size that the charecters are supposed to be could someone help me.

Overkill
There is no 'right' or 'wrong' size, really. But if you want the default that everyone from Verge1 and Verge2 days followed, and most today follow, it's 16 pixels wide x 32 pixels high.
