Intel/United Devices have joined the distributed computing arena, and in my humble opinion, have done a much better job of it than SETI@home, distributed.net, folding@home, etc. The current UD project models potential drug interactions to help find a cure to cancer. To allay a few people's fears, I've used a lot of other distributed computing clients but this is the only one I've stuck with because the client is just that much better. It minimizes to a system tray icon and runs in low priority, so it
only uses cpu cycles that would have otherwise gone to your System Idle Process, which for most people consumes 99% of their resources most of the time. Its so convenient I don't even bother disabling it when I run games or burn CDs, and I never notice any performance hit at all.
