A few items:
I have finally started organizing the outpouring of support in the last few weeks concerning the
[Call to Arms] newspost. I've divided everyone into two groups:
1) Everyone who's helping with user-friendliness (writing tutorials, fixing docs, suggesting changes to the site for increased accessibility and the creation of the HTML content to that end, etc...) is now a member of the Rocktastic Usability Squad. I have appointed the most proactive of all vergers in this department, Zip, with the title of Minister of User-Friendliness, and so (barring his complete mental breakdown or dereliction of duties) he'll be coordinating the efforts on that front and then yelling at me to put the awesome things created onto the site.
He's even started a
[thread concerning all of this]. Go there and help out!
2) Everyone who's helping with PHP/MySQL renovations (tentatively including Locke, NestleQuik, Ness, Raiden, and quite possibly Thinice) is hereto forward known as the Uberawesome League of Webcoders. Or something. As soon as everyone chimes in with yays or nays, we'll active our wonder
twin sextuplet powers and forge a plan for the future. Once everyone's signed on on this front I'll put someone in charge over this branch of operations so I can hunker down and worry about completing the Sully codebase.
On a side note, Raiden has already started work on a forum search module. You may sing hosannas to his name now, or save them for later when it's done. Your call.
The extra-super-ultra-mega-retarded names for these groups and leaders are entirely subject to change, and only presented here because my sleep-deprived brain desires some kind of moniker for each group. Whatever y'all decide as a title for your group will be, once decided, added to the forums replacing the 'User' there. Just as a little token of community spirit and all.
With any hope, there may be a new official build complete with updated packin relatively soon. This is not a promise of any kind, because historically if we make a commitment, it will not be met. However, a lot of work by several parties has, in fact, been done since the previous official release, and we think it'd be nice to share.
And finally, here is the final design for the T-shirts, now in an apolitical form:
So now all you members of the incredibly international league of VERGErs can
[order with impunity] and wear the shirts proudly amoungst your countrymen without fear of being cudgeled brutally. For truly, low-resolution games know no border.
So go
support capitalism and the free-market that brought you arcades, consoles, and all that good stuff and
order your t-shirt!
If you don't have a paypal account, but do have a credit card and the burning desire to use it, click that button following the 'If you do not currently have a PayPal account' on the first page. This takes you through the credit-card payment procedure, and not a paypal signup deal. Unless I'm completely retarded... which is quite possible.
And finally, if you still want to feed us money but have no credit cards, we'll take personal checks and money orders. Just
email me and I will send you the mailing information.
In summary, thank you for being eager to help, the help is good and being used, there is more VERGE in the near future, I'm an idiot, and
[please give us money in exchange for imprinted pieces of fabric].
Edit: Also, at the request of some deranged men, there are
[wallpapers for your downloading pleasure].
