In the last news update
vecna put out a notice about how we need artist and others to help out with Verge Online's development. It's not enough, though. We have a new request for you.
That's right, we're asking for your money. At least, I'm asking for your money.
Here's the situation: Since about two years ago I've been running the verge-rpg.com server out of my own pocket. I purchased the hardware for the server and have spent to money to keep it online with I'd say a 99.999% (except for that incident a year and a half back... erm) uptime record, and it's been mostly ad free. Now the verge-rpg.com server is host to a fair number of other sites, some of which pull just about as much traffic as www.verge-rpg.com does.
Now with the development of Verge Online, we need a server to develop, and eventually deploy on. All the development thus far has been done directly on the verge-rpg.com webserver, which generally is not considered a wise thing, although we've had no choice up to this point. I would like to setup a 733 Mhz + server, with a 20 G Ultra160 Hard Disk and 512 megs of ram (at least :). Unfortunately, I don't have the cash on hand to be able to purchase all this. We've never really asked anything of the verge community before, and I hope we won't need to again, but at this point it's really necessary. If you could help out, by either donating computer equipment or money, all of us here would be greatly appreciative. Also, the top five donaters will be given free webspace on verge-rpg.com's servers including a subdomain (under any of the domains verge-rpg.com host, such as http://yourname.midgetrebellion.com), and the top donater will be given their own domain registered for two years (ie, http://www.yourname.com). Everyone will be heartily thanked and mentioned here for helping out.
If you can help out, please send any money or computer parts to:
