In case you haven't heard, VergeMUD is back in production and running smoothly. Beta testing should begin shortly, and we are anticipating a tentative public release of Mid-November. Praetor and his DevTeam (read: slaves) are heading up the project and making sure the mud is darn cool, as well as meeting and exceeding (yay!) expectations. More on that soon.
I'd also like to mention Arek's Verge-Net which was recently given a makeover. Not only is it updated a bit more often than verge-rpg.com (but we try so hard!), there's also a message board and a full user system. Hey! There's even a comments section for the news updates... now why don't we do that?
The Speed Bump has released a new version of WinMapEd. For those of you who can't guess what this program is by the name, it is a version of MapEd for Windows. The Speed Bump also released his own very special version of Verge2 a short while back, which includes hicolor support. Perhaps you'd better visit his site for the real smack.
In other news, we've determined that the masses are idiots and evilbob smells funny. In related news, in the recent Al Gore and George W. Bush debate, the topic of two controversial websites came up: SolidSharkey.com and Falthorn.com.
Praetor is also running the Verge Olympiad. For those of you that don't know, the Verge Olympiad will be broadcast on NBC starting Friday, the 13th. zeromus will be doing commentary, with Zathras producing the musical score and McGrue making up several heartwarming and heartbreaking stories. The Olympiad will consist of four events, each with a minium of 6 contestants. Winners of these events will form a team of some sort. The Verge Olympiad is open to all persons, including non-Vergers. That's right, encourage your best friend and your mom to join in!
Finally, I recently spoke with aen about his status on Verge2000 and he showed me the contents of his soul (well not quite). aen strongly regrets not being able to work on V2K nearly as much as he'd like to right now. He even gets a little ruffled thinking about it, so he tries not to. aen has put a lot of hard work into V2 (among others) and I know he will continue to do so when he has more time, so I'd like to thank aen for all his hard work and respectfully request that you all do the same.
So, in conclusion, I'd like to reiterate my anti-drug stance. Don't do drugs, brother. And Pink Floyd is good. So are news updates. E-mail me with your own news if you'd like to see more.
Hail to the King, baby.
