Well, lore doesn't seem to read his e-mail, so I'll ask here.

To run perl scripts on the v-rpg server, do I need to dump them into a cgi-bin, or is there some magical way to run them outside of one (for instance, in /home/shlock/web/curious/movabletype/)?

And if it does need to be in a cgi-bin, will anyone get mad at me if I put Movable Type CGIs in the cgi-bin?

And how does one get a hold of lore without posting messages on the message board they say "HEY LORE"?

The same way you contact all verge devs, put a note in his beer. ;)

Mwa. Funny. I don't think it would have to have this answered by a drunk dev, though.

Isn't moveabletype one of the least efficient webpublishing suites out there?

Meh, it does what I need it to do. It's good for when there are a couple features I want to add to my website that I'm too lazy to code myself. Like now. Everything on my site is my own code thus far... but I'm getting kind of sick of coding it.

Grue, you have any idea about the perl (or a suggestion of a different cms that kicks movabletype's arse)?

I have blissfully little knowledge about perl and this server, which I'd like to maintain. If you find a simple php-driven system, that should prove easy to install, and I might even do it for you if you have trouble.... and if it is actually easy to install.

Hmm... how about something that's all PHP and SQL? Seeming as how I know next to nothing about SQL, I haven't been looking in that direction. I don't even know how to make a new database.

Anything that's pre-assembled and uses PHP and MySQL would probably be fine. Please email me with any information you find concerning this... we'll continue this conversation privately.

Um... what e-mail address did you send me the mail to? I check my e-mail regularly, so spamassassin (.. how many asses?) must have blocked it or somehow I just missed it. I get a massive amount of spam, despite spamassassin, to my v-rpg.com account, so it's possible for me to mistakenly delete a message.

I've sent a couple of messages to loretian(at)verge-rpg.com, which is the address I've used to talk to you before, and I'm sending from aaron(at)verge-rpg.com. Should I be sending stuff to joe(at)verge-rpg.com instead?

No, loretian@verge-rpg.com should work fine, but joe@verge-rpg.com also works. That's weird. Do you use subject lines like "get cheap viagra!?!" or something? ;-) Try again and I'll be careful to check for your mail.

Christ, whenever I look at Lore's avatar I swear I have to give him money or lose my kneecaps.

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
