This is not a VERGE-related request.

I adore the music of FFL2. I love the sound of the old chipsets like c64 and NES, but by far the GB chipsounds are my favorite, and they're underused. I also consider FFL2's entire soundtrack to be amoung the best VG soundtracks ever. It's truely a 4-channel wonder.

So... I was wondering if you music-cats would be up to a little mission to create some rocking remixes of FFL2 songs. Single songs and medleys are both welcome, and the only requirements are that it rocks, and it's highly recommended to have some original GB sounds as intruments.

So yeah, I figured I'd ask. It'd be really swell, but this isn't imperitive or anything. You'd just elevate yourself to my good graces.

Note: Zathras need not apply as my graces in relation to him are ineffable in quantity and majesty. Them's some good graces, boyeee.

This post inspired by vecna's recent kick of sending me Metal versions of NES songs, and by the NES-rock remix of [Nintendo Power] from over at [audio.soBoring.org] by Mike Murphy.

Troupe

I am so down for this. I just need to find the soundtracks :(

Some of my first VG work was for my step-brother's GBC demo game thing, which got second place in this competition thingy. I've been working with NES a lot lately, so this will be a good change of pace (kind of).

I'd be down for this as well, if I had the time ;_;

I was listening to the soundtrack this morning after reading this post and had a zillion ideas come to my head....I have a friend visiting me all next week, but I might be able to do something on the weekend.

Also, if you like nifty remixes of Nintendo themes may I point you to This site
They're a Nintendo cover band called the "Mini-bosses" and some of the stuff is pretty bitchin'. They're not the first I've heard of that do this, but the only one's I can remember right now.

You might also want to check www.vgmusic.com. They've got a bunch of MIDIs, which...well, I guess it could be used for something.

If you aren't getting your remixes from there, you must be punished. There are a few FFL2 remixes on there. I like the remix of the Talon music from FFL3 on there called Injury. :D

I wasn't impressed by the OCRs of FFL2.

On second thought....

I had posted a remix I did, but I decided I'm not really that happy with it. Feels too rushed. :P I'll polish it up some more when I get back in a week, so uh, if you downloaded it, delete it, there'll be a better one in a little while. ^_^;

A couple of songs from the Astrad soundtrack were heavily inspired by Final Fantasy Legend III... which... well, isn't quite the same but shares one of the two composers for FFL2's soundtrack. I've got FFL2's soundtrack somewhere but haven't played the game all that much. And if you're looking for something that that MP3 you mentioned....
heh, find a guitarist ;)

(Hey! Steve Vai! Wanna play a song? Pllleeeeeeaseee??!)

There was a result from this thread: Rysen and Troupe made a remix. Do you guys know where it is?

Overkill

This thread has their follow-up: http://verge-rpg.com/forums/art-and-music-discussion/courtesy-of-troupe-and-rysen/ but that is a dead link since actionsketch.com, and the subdomains off of actionsketch (troupe, rysen, ovk) are long gone.

I have the song on my desktop PC somewhere, in my "Video Games" music folder, but I can't really dig that out until my move to Mountain View tomorrow.

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
