I come from the string section, so you'll forgive me if I'm a little string oriented. ;)

But yeah, live instruments = love. Whatever they are, except maybe the theramin (or however you spell that).

Haha, string bias isnt a bad thing. Brass is very hard to use properly in mods anyway, and get a good sound out of.

I'm not sure what a theramin is.

I once arranged a version of the Chocobo theme for two flutes and an oboe. I was a "band nerd" in high school, so it was easy to find people to play it. It was pretty bitchin', and we had plans to perform it at the year end concert (I was to conduct! :D) but one of the fluteists got really sick and couldn't play, so it was never heard by a group larger than 5
:(

Oh man, you are now officially my idol ;_;

I played bass in orchestra in 6th grade, and then haven't played in orchestra or band since. I have played drums in jazz band since 8th grade though. So obviously my reading has suffered a bit, but I am trying to correct that. Its an incredibly essential skill.

I want to hear your chocobo song really badly :\

Hey I played bass too! Just because I was too poor in juinor high to afford renting a different instrument! :D

Also, I have an mp3, of the chocobo song, that I tracked. It doesn't sound as cool as it did live ;_;, but it's still pretty neat!

I'll...uh...upload it some time. For now I'm mourning Calgary's loss tonight in the Stanley Cup finals. ;_;

So... we should arrange a band-nerd intarweb spectacular!

Someone writes up teh musics, and sets the beat, and we all record our parts into our shitty mikes and have the poor composer reassemble and readjust everything!

It'll sound horrid, it'll be a pain in the ass, and it'll be completely nerdy. WHO'S WITH ME?

Abit slow here, but I play the Euphonium (sometimes called the Baritone)! :D~ I'd love to play some music, but then again I haven't touched the euphonium for 5 months since coming to Canada ;_;

I'm a rusty flutist and an even rustier baritone. Much sadness.

Well I don't play any instruments that you'd normally associate with a concert band or orchestra (although piano could be easily added to anything), but I've had a lot of experience with arranging music. So I could take that on if asked. I'd just need a list of all the instruments I'd need to arrange for, and of course a copy of the song. :P

I also have the software to be able to take all the parts and mesh them together in a mix down, and a friend of mine (who works in a, and has his own, recording studio) has tonnes of experience with the aformentioned software to help me make it sound as good as possible.

This a really neat idea and is incredibly nerdy! I want to be apart of it!

I played 'cello for 6 years, so theoretically I would say that I'd play cello for this little hare-brained scheme. But I don't actually have a cello anymore to play. :(

So if anyone wants to buy me a cello first, then I'll go for it!

I can also play a little bit of violin, guitar, and bass (guitar or upright), but I only have a bass guitar, and that's the one I'm worst at. I used to be able to sing too, but I don't know how that would go now, with my lack of practice and all.
