PROS: ... CONS: ...

I agree with most of what you say, although I don't see the problem you have with the music... that was one of the best things about PSIII! And there may have been some rather bizarre enemies (some of the felmale looking ones I'm sure were scanned in from porn mags and altered to look like cyborgs or whatever... I mean... look...)

But the overall the battle system was 10 times better than the PSII one, which smelled big time. PSIII had faults, but also had an underlying coolness about it which is difficult to pin down.

But I probably think that because it's the game that got me into RPGS too. Before that, RPGs to me were annoying slow things that my brother played in order to stop me playing Sonic the Hedgehog, so I'm biased. But PSIII isn't the black sheep, it's the grey one. PSO is a travesty of awfulness and much more deserving of the title of black sheep. Even though it's not a bad game in itself, it's got nothing at all to do with the PS series, has zero storyline, and doesn't deserve to bear the name. And PSO Card? I join you in your sobbing.

PSO: Definition of milking an established name to do something that was a first for consoles.

PSO CARD: Definition of milking an established name to do something every other hack and their dog did before already...and still doesn't make sense.

Talking of PS, am I the only person in the world who didn't know that PSI was about to be re-released in all it's updated glory?

12/3/02: Sega of Japan will release new versions of PS1, PS2, and PS4 under their Sega Ages line for the Playstation 2. PS1 will be released in the summer of 2003. Each game will feature completely redone graphics. From The Magic Box via PSDB member bds.

Ya know what, PS3 would be wicked in a remake. They could take out all that made the original irritating and focus on the cool storyline. But the name does sort of hold a rather nasty rep, maybe that's why they ommited it.

Look a little further down the page, past the evil PSO Card screens. FPS with green bricks galore!

It would indeed be wonderful. Along with PSII it's the one that needs remaking most... Especially since Sega of America apparently didn't so much translate the original Japanese text as throw it away and replace it with random gibberish. It would be good if someone would do a proper translation, like Naflign did with PSII...
And I don't know why PSIII supposedly has a nasty rep. At the time of its release, I don't remember hearing a single bad word said about it, at least in reviews. It's probably because the magazine reviewers rated the game on its merits, rather than PS fans who rate it against other PS games and don't think it fits in, so decide it's crap. Which I can understand, because when I first played PSIV I thought 'hey, this has got nothing to do with PSIII, it's crap!'. But at least I can admit I was wrong. :)
