Kildorf

I'm working on Geas, along with tulokyn.

<_< More-or-less.

(It has been pre-empted in the last week or so by an OpenGL/GLUT Asteroids clone for one of my classes, but I hope to get back to Geas soooon.)

Eldritch05

Hey, whoa! Why do I get preempted? I'ma tell you anyway.

Syn, C. M. Dratz, Gayo, two non-VERGErs, and I are all working to carve away at the work needed by my stupidly idealistic masterwork, Epic of Serinor. I'm sure Gayo has his own projects, but he's being nice after ripping apart everything I did by trying to fix some of it.

Mmm... lufia-esque.

Anyways, apart from Sully, there's only one thing I'm working on:

locke

Errr... I'm working on two things at the moment.

A generic shooter-esque engine (I smell mini-games), and a game which is unnamed but will be ultimately Phantasy Star-ish (III/IV).

Nice screen, McG.

Syn

Like Eldritch said, I'm on Serinor at the moment. But since he codes faster then I can pixel draw(which includes 6 parts inspiration, drawing, frustration, drawing, contemplating, deleting) this might take a while.

Oh, and Mcgrue, that screen looks like total crap. Did you like take animal dung, mix it all up then... then... Bzzz *Danger! Danger! Lying terminal overload!*

I've been working on a Dragon Warrior clone(Dragon Warrior Legend) for some time now. Gannon has been helping on this too. The code was practically complete in Verge2, but it's being rewritten from scratch in Verge3...

Here's some screens:

Dialogue, with highlighted text/scrolling

I know there may be copyright issues with this, but I really don't care. Emulating a Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest system has really helped me learn a lot, and there's plenty more learning to do in the future! :D

EDIT(after reading gannon's post): The menus ARE transparent in these screens... It just looks really dark.

gannon

you can't tell with those screens but the menus can be transparent and the backgrounds of the menus can be transparent

Ness

I'm in a constant state of refining the graphics in milk and trying to conjure up a story that halfway makes sence.

I spent much of my VERGE time this week making a barrel look good.

There are two great resources for the budding pixel artist:

1) tsugumo's ubiquitous pixel tutorial

2) Ripping graphics from emus. If only for studying if you don't want to steal. I learned to much from getting up close and personal with screenshots.

Technetium

Primary project: Phobos Project is an rpg in the style of Final Fantasy 3. I'm calling it a 'tribute' to the FF series as a whole so that I can feel like I have an excuse to rip off all the standards of the the series (Fire, Fire 2, Fire 3, etc for spell names, and powerful weapons like Ragnarok, Masamune, and Excalibur). I posted updated screenshots not too long ago on this forum. Currently, the V3 demo which will cover as much material as the last V2.6 demo is nearing completion. It is short by 2-5 (depending on how well I feel like fleshing out my townspeople assortment by the demo release) CHRs, 7 Maps, 4 monster types, 1 weapon, and 5 magic spells.

Other projects:

Downtown: A city simulator that I would like to use to go in a much different route from the Simcity games. I've only gotten as far as getting the rudimentary isometric tiling system (complete with differently colored elevations, and trees, much like the Simcity 3000 terrain but somewhat less smooth-looking).

Random AD&D: This is a project where you make a party the 'old school' way, meaning you pick class and race based on what ability scores you roll, not the other way around. In this game, the overworld map is randomly generated as you explored previously unexplored terrain. Dungeons are randomly generated in a similar fashion, with random enemies and random treasure. The only drawback is that there probably won't be much curving of the overworld encounters based upon your characters' current levels. So you'll have ot save often because unavoidable death could be right around the corner. Inside dungeons it is a little better as every dungeon level has it's own encounter table. So far, I have the basics of the overworld terrain generator done, and I have begun working on an inventory system which functions similar to the ones in Diablo 2 and Baldur's Gate (loads of bugs in that thing at the moment, though).

Omnisphere: A side-scrolling space shooter I plan to upgrade to V3 from the single-stage V2 demo I released. Not begun yet.

TANQ: Scorched Earth clone, functional demo has been done, though it doesn't have nearly as many cool weapons as the original game. Also, the AI on the hardest computer opponent is perhaps too good.

That's about it for now, though I have had some aspirations on making a Magic: the Gathering game.

Zip

I'm mostly working on my ASS. Er...

That's a nice looking box there in SotS Grue.

Anyway, I'm off to check gannon's eyesight and shift key.

gungnir

I'm working on an RPG project called 'The Aegis of Thyre'. I generally only post to ask stupid questions, and so I believe this is the first time I've actually mentioned what I'm working on :P

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
Verge-rpg.com is a member of the lunarnet irc network, and would like to take this opportunity to remind you that regardless how babies taste, it is wrong to eat them.
