Do you have a site for the project, I really would like to know more about what i'm getting into. If not, some info and screens through my email would be nice.
Yeah, checked out Diver Down, pretty cool, although the maps were too big in my opinion, the art was nice.
Diver Down was a labor of love by gren ^_^;; Of course, I sweated over it for my part as well..
You could talk to Alex about it; I mean, there's no need for you to leap into the project or anything :) There's nothing you're "getting" into, it won't be any trouble :D Just talk to Alex and he could give you a lowdown on the project.
And frankly, although I'm in the Midsummer team, I'm *not* entirely sure what the whole project's about. Mm. That's because I've been bogged down by work. Fucked by Calculus. And it fucked me good (grade D). Still, hop onto the project as an apprentice attachee ^_^.. Alex is the easygoing kind (those damn Brits) so I think he might want that.
Mm. You can find him on irc as Alex and he posts on the Verge board as Alex/Alexandiir.
If not, hold on a little while longer.. I'm finishing my exams this Thursday.. We can work something out. :D

Well, I added alex on my msn. Just hope he doesn't think it's some crazy dude and refuses the request... lol
Anyway, if you want my msn email, send me a message to my knightmare_syndrome one. Cause i don't distribute that email on a large scale.

My god, there's this weirdo on MSN... Oh, wait... heh heh, that'd be you. :P
The thing about talking to you foreign people is that time zones always work out to not be in my favour. The last time I spoke to Arias on IRC I had to stay up until about 5am, and on a work night too. It's a good thing that his conversation was so scintillating, or I might have fallen asleep. ;)

oh yeah, you are far from here, like 6 hours difference if i remember correctly, so it's like 11 pm here when it's 5 am there isn't it?

I still haven't caught Alex online yet, or he might have blocked me... lol In any case, if Alex could just make an email with screen shots, plot, team... whatever else i should know. It would be cool. Because I would enjoy not letting this trail on too long.

An impatient youg one eh.. Oh well; I understand how you want to get into the thick of the action. But first you should know about Alex's plans for Midsummer. There's no release date, there's no hurry AT ALL for the game. As far as I know, it could be released five years from now.
I worked on Diver Down for about 3 or more years.
I hope you realise that game-making takes ALOT of time. We can't rush it.
If Alex doesn't get to you, I will, by this weekend. I'm having my last final exam tomorrow but after that it'll be full partying. I'll catch you on IRC/MSN this weekend if Alex doesn't, and probably get you to do
(1) Tilework
(2) NPC portraits
And I'll also (3) Send you the Midsummer demos (which only work on Windows 98 and befooorreeee). If you don't mind, you can send me your artwork and stuff. I am assuming here that you are -mainly- an artist. People here at Verge are pretty multi-talented, although most of them only rule on one aspect or another. I would assume yours would be art.
Send some art over if you need me to give you some advice on pixel art. We can have a nice discussion and I can inform you somewhat about the Midsummer project.
If that's too much trouble for you, feel free to look for other projects to join.

I thought Alex said a while back he was looking into porting Midsummer to V3?

Alex lives in a different dimension.
Time passes much more quickly in ours.

The demo was V2, the complete game will be V3. I've got bits of it over to V3, but because I'm quite stupid and lazy it's all going a bit slowly.
Arias: Just remember that time passes more quickly for you in five years' time when I'm no further done than I am now. ;) You know, when Euro 2004 was on earlier this summer, I was watching Spain vs someone or other, and it reminded me of Spain's famous game against Yugoslavia in Euro 2000, when they came back from 3-2 behind in the final minute to win 4-3 ... I remember during that match I was drawing some of the house interiors for Midsummer... So that's pretty much how fast I work. Slow and steady gets the job done!
Syn: I'll have a bit of a think, and let you know what needs to be done. Probably mostly scenery of various sorts... As for the demos Arais mentions, don't bother with them, they're old. There's a kind of semi-demo (consisting of whatever of the beginning of the game was all linked up when I stopped work with V2) featuring Troupe's music and stuff, which I will send you the link for as soon as I've found it. Of course, you will still need the glorious Windows 98 to run it, but even if you don't have Win98 you can still look at the maps and stuff.
Also, like he said, this isn't going to be something that yields instant results, there's a depressingly large amount of stuff yet to do, and there's no estimated release date at all, it'll take however long it takes. Just so you know.
As far as 'team' is concerned, loosely, it's me, Interference, Troupe, Arias, and anyone else I can rope into making me a nice PS stylee battle system. ;)

Hey, well the reason why i'm impatient is cause i'm currently looking for a job. At this point, i have some time on my hand, but after i get a job i will be less avaible. It's not really important, i just wanted to fill some dead moments in my day. In any case, i do not mind if the project is long term, actually i think that's a good way to think. Since most people don'T finish their work thinking it would take them a month. :P But i do wish to know if the project is interesting enough to want to join on a long term work. In any case, we have a better chance of communicating in the days that come.
See ya then
