Hey, I'm interested in joining a team or project in the works. Although I might seem to lack any obvious competence with Verge, I'm eager and quick to learn. I'm looking for people who are interested in having a wild card in their team and passing down knowledge. Why? Because, i would like to gain experience through projects with veterans before starting my own little thing.
Man, this is looking like an ad in a newspaper... lol... don't think i'm an uptight dude either, hehehe i'm pretty lay back.
In any case, dunno if this place is right to post this but here I am! You can contact me at knightmare_syndrome at good old hotmail.

Hrm. Back in the old days such an announcement would have a flurry of activity. I guess that's what we get for not yet having a full packin ready with step-by-step 'how to use VERGE' instructions.
All the work I'm currently doing on Sully is of a rather convoluted nature, but I'd be more than willing to handhold you through the game-creation process if you want.

I think we'd really like to know what you can do.. ^_^
Wild card is all nice and fun, but more solidity please. What can you offer? Good ideas? Stories? Hmm? :D
Not picking on you or anything, but it was a really vague offer.

I don't think he is saying he has to have skills its just that if he does have skills people would be much more interested.
I mean if I see someone who is skilled at say art I would be more interested in them than I would be for someone who is skilled at design/coding because I am good at those things.
Not to say I wouldn't teach people (I was a tutor for several years) but you need to modivate people to be interested in you. (even like saying you want to learn a specific thing whould make people more interested)

No deification is required to get my favor. The gold-plated shrines in my name just plain out make me feel pretty. Although the kilometers-high effigies always get the nose wrong. Ah well.

Well, if you are interested in my skills. I don't really see myself has having any skills and don't want to start saying good things about me. It might be better to mention the skills people praise me about.
They say I'm good in art, including pixel art, although not as great as the professionnal work. They say I'm good at solving problems and general programming. For instance, what I lack in experience I make up with brilliance(Math teacher's words) They say I have great determination, I won't give up until I do it properly. They say I'm a fountain of imagination. I also have some experience in other game engines, like Rpg maker and O.H.R. etc. Seriously, I think the only thing i couldn't do if i made my own game would be the music... for now anyway... ;o)
If i have to say one thing about myself, just like that, i would say i know how to make a good game, actually making it is another matter which includes time and hard work.... lol
I would also like to meet with good pixel artists that could help me overcome some of the obstacles/questions i have on how to make my work better.
Oh, and i'm perfectionist, so hey that's why you never saw a game from me. :o) Someone less perfectionist would work well with me since we will nuance each other.
Edit : Hmmm, let make this clearer... lol I would probably be able to make the graphics to a game, help with storyline and later do some small scale programming. Here, much better then my hour long text.

Hey, if you put that as your first message, I'm sure response will be much more positive :) Although it sounds almost a little boastful. But hey, a little ego never hurt anyone.
What would make your message PERFECT, would be some samples of your work. In the past (3-4 years ago), artists looking for projects usually posted their art/sample art/link to website to their art along with their message. I hope you can do the same.
I'm not the best pixel artist in Verge; that current one would probably be Falthorn, or Metro (but he's not a Verger.. um long story). I could help you a little.
Summary of my post : SAMPLEARTPLZKTHXBYE.

My earliest work I could find was around july 2001.(Has it been that long since i made some pixel art? O_o) Problem is, there isn't an intergrated image uploading option on the boards and throught extensive searching, i found this old old tripod account where i could upload it. Dunno if Tripod allows image linking, but here goes : Click Me
If it doesn't work try copy pasting this in a new window : http://newavalanchealpha.tripod.com/sample1.jpg
And if it still doesn't work... well... email, i'll send it to you via email.
If you can't figure out what my art is, don't feel about about asking. ^_^ (There are three different light switches and a electric plug for example... heh)
Edit : It seems to work, oh and I have other work, but these are even earlier, like 6 years ago or something... lol, but they include battle related pics... like char, weapons, monsters, backdrops, etc

Syn, those tiles and sprites are quite nice. You should be able to find a willing team easily.
If too much time goes on without you finding one, contact me.

Hopefully you're still viewing this thread. I asked Alex to check you out; he's the lead member for the Midsummer project.
How do I describe the Midsummer game?
Hm.
Quaint.
:) And Alex's style of development is really.. how should I say? Easy. :D.. We have a fantastic tracker Troupe on board, and a decent pixel artist (me). I could probably give you some pointers about pixeling faces and portraits; I did menu and speech portraits for Diver Down.
If you don't mind, you can check us out and post a mail to Alex.

Do you have a site for the project, I really would like to know more about what i'm getting into. If not, some info and screens through my email would be nice.
Yeah, checked out Diver Down, pretty cool, although the maps were too big in my opinion, the art was nice.
