This would be a useful item, and I am not about to go on about the reasons. I think most people already know why a search script for this site is a good idea. I know this will become necessary if the traffic here continues to increase. Hope this won't cause McGrue too much hassle.

A search would be very useful, and shouldn't prove to be that difficult. I'll be sure to put one in during the next set of additions... I don't know when that'll be though. The rest of this month is a little packed for me.

Considering I almost duplicated this thread it would be most helpful. I'm even willing to help it happen if you like. I've got me a shell account and everything already so I can do evil stanic things to v-rpg's homely little sister, v-net.

So, will a Search feature be out anywhere in the near future? Just wondering.
Something simple like this could be even *somewhat* useful:
SELECT * FROM Posts WHERE Text LIKE '%$searchstring%'

Why aren't you logged in, Ice?
Also, the files archiving is first!
Also, IM me, jerkface!

If we (ever) get a search function, can we get one specifically for the docu section too?

What sort of searches do you want in the docs?

My suggestion is search for function. Only because I usually don't know what section the function I'm looking for is under

Well, I guess a fulltext search would be the best. For example, if I'm looking all texts regardings maps, it would be nice if the searchfunction could list not only the map functions, but also the Xwin/Ywin variables.

Yes, search option! That way I can make a PHP script that forwards me to the search with the current date and time (subtract one hour) and I can FINALLY get my latest posts function that brings up all the fresh goods.
It wouldn't be as good as "since last visit" but Grue is too lazy for that.
Edit: So be sure to add "later than"/"before" Date and Time!

Dude, they won't add search even when someone else codes it. It's a safe bet that it isn't happening.

Oh, a rebellion is it?
I'm willing to accept anyone else's assistance in implementing these pieces of functionality. My desire to code PHP for no monies right now is in the large negative values.
You cannot burn us so easily, Vargy-boy. There are three of us, and we are moist!

Petrol doesn't exist outside of Britain. As soon as it crosses the pond, it's changed via the miracle of linguistics into Gas.
And since everyone knows gas is not a liquid, the ruling caste of vrpg is safe!
