VERGE stands for Life, liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, of course!

Oh, you mean literally?

VERGE is an acronym for:
Vecna's Extrodinary Role-playing Game Engine.

vecna did not name this himself. A fan of the Lunar: Middleground IRC RPG that spawned VERGE suggested this name in jest one day, and it stuck through the quest to find a 'real name', and one day the quest was abandoned because everyone just stuck with VERGE.

And it must've caught on since then... at the time of this writing, google says we're the best VERGE out there. In your face, VERGE Music!
