Hullo! I return! A few of you will remember me as aaron, choris, choris-lypi, idle. For those who don't, I came around right when v2 was born, and then disapeared about a year ago during the pre-v3 dark age. I made a few demos, mostly in contests. One, Beyond Babel, is on this site. My best is probably Winter Solstice though. I also ran an HoV archive site for a bit. I wonder if the admins even remember where it's hosted. Anyhow, enough for now, except that I want an avatar!

Your HoV games were neat and awesome. I didn't play any of them until this january. Sorry about that.

Choris is a superior name to aaronwright. Why don't you go recover your old account? ; )

Real names have no place here! They are only to be revealed in claims of legal ownership, or as a reward in the credits sequence of released games! :D

Real names are well and good outside in the real world. However, there's tons of overlap and the community is currently hundreds of active people, and if things go well, that'll be thousands soon enough.

Now, names like "bob" and "fred" and "andy" are all fine names for people to have in real life, but if we all used our first names, well, the dev channers alone have two Bens (vecna and yours truely), two Matts (Zero and Zathras), and two Brians (Hahn and Falthorn, although spelled differently). You could add in last names tike aaron obviously has, but that becomes clumsy and awkward.

Whenever we've met in real life, we interchangeably use real names and nicknames. Are nicknames so repellant? They do exist outside of teh intarweb, you know. All I know is, not only would we lose a lot of ease-in-recognition with the nice uids most of the people have now, but you'd lose a lot of the charm. I don't know how much I could take of a bunch of Bobs on the message listing. Evilbob excluded. And he's actually a Jon. ;)

Not to mention it being all in good fun. How many times in your life do you get to change your name without court permission?

my real name is Real...

What!?, it's true!!

choris, I jumped in for only a very short time during the v2 days but I believe I remember you:)

Welcome to the party:D

Meh, I switched to aaron a while back anyhow, and I didn't want to bother digging through old emails etc looking for my password or what email account I was using at the time. My real name also fits better with my normal avatar, me!

I may try to get on irc later, but at the moment the university appears to have blocked its ports again.
Forums are more fun anyhow: you can post whenever, you don't idle away your life in the unspeakable channel, and with luck you get to use avatars!

By the way, I have alot of contest games I could upload (If verge-rpg wants that kind of thing now finally), or if not you can link to my debunk HoV site somwhere. I'll probably upload some of my own games later at any rate.

One more thing:

TEH VERGESOURCE, BLEH, TATSUMI IS FATT

...But I have magical admin powers to put your current email in your ancient account!

Also, hee hee... Fatsumi.

"House goblins! They must be after the leftovers!"

Wow, Winter Solstice is amazing o_o;; I've never played an SoM-like RPG in Verge.. must have a heck alot of coding for this one. Some parts run too fast and others too slow though.. I suggest you make a full game out of this gem. o_o..

Great job!

Troupe

Bwuahaha, I have fooled you all! Troupe is my real name, but its what I've used since the beginning (with a brief switch to hellkite, and its l337 derivative, h3lkite (yes I know its lame... It was cool back then... Kind of... (I enjoy nesting parentheses))). Regardless, no else is named Troupe, I can garauntee that, so... I'm cool.

Choris! You've got to get on IRC or something. Maybe email? I want to talk to you, damnit.

Holy shit, I just realized this would be a perfect opportunity for an "Everyone Ignore This But Chrois" thread.

Wow, winter solstice really is awesome :O I played most of the HOV games, but not that one.

Troupe: email me then, what do I care. Also, of course I tried both 5555 and 6667. Also, thank you for stroking my verge ego. Indeed, I will make a full game which will be released 2 hours after the return of Christ, pending I am able to want to do anything like that. It will also be winter solstice. Unfortunately there will be a tragic bug in the code which causes it to be impossible to beat even the first level. Detecting sarcasm in written text is a talent.

Alex

I remember Winter Solstice from when it first appeared. I'm pretty sure I was better at it then... :( Also, there's a house goblin that seems to be immune. Or maybe it was just bad luck or my general ineptitude. Still, it rocks.

Actually, yes, it is immune to physical attacks. I have no idea why. Kill it with candy spells. On a side note, you can also hit grandpa with the staff, although I did not intend this. It is possible that there is a profound meaning behind this, possibly speaking to the concept of the youth exploiting the older generation, but it is infinitely more likely I accidently switched the two of them. Also, I used the exact same snippet of AI code for every enemy in the game, and each enemy actually has only three unique frames of animation. This in fact does speak to something meaningful: I am lazy. One more fun fact, I made the entire second level in an hour, and I do not know why I made the enemies look like Alf.

Oh yeah I remember this game! It is totally awesome to the max.
