Diver Down on GameHippo.com

I was trapped there myself for quite a while. Apparently you need to talk to everyone in town before a certain event will get triggered that leads to the third party member joining. He gets you past the mines.
Someone with a better memory should help here... I don't recall the specifics.

You get to the Outpost and notice the bartender acting a bit strange around you. If you give him some money he'll give you some info - that a man wearing armor similar to yours was recently in town. So Drek and Gerret are like "Let's talk to everybody in town and find out what we can." So at that point you really probably should talk to everyone in town and find out what you can ;).
Talk to the Hunter's Guild, the man selling mounts, and one of the shops. Along the way, every time you pick up new info, you'll hear a success sound and Drek will say, 'We should keep asking around" or, if you've gotten all the info, "We should talk about these facts over a hot meal in the Outpost". Then sit down and eat. The outcome of that conversation is that joining the Hunter's Guild may be good for you, and going into the Abandoned Mine is the way to do that. Do that, examine the honeycomb, and an event will trigger (because you are now in the guild, among other things).
And don't let the fact that Grue got stuck there be any consolation. He gets stuck EVERYwhere :b. In fact, he still hasn't finished the game! If you ask me, Grue shouldn't be allowed to post in this forum anymore until he finishes Diver Down. But that's just me ;).

This game takes me back to many hours spent rotting my retinas on the original Might & Magic games. Well done!! I'm stuck at one spot, and would appreciate some help (assuming this is the right place).
In the condemned (Cruxen) mines, after throwing the emergency switch, there is some mandatory dialog about worms vs. rocks, dying, and then Malcolm says "RUN!!!". I keep running, but I keep dying after the young knight says "I don't think we're fast enough". I gather that there is an alternative to running, but can't seem to find it.
Can anyone give me a gentle nudge, or barring that, a swift kick?
Thanks!

Note the cart on the rails right there.
Perhaps you should examine it? ;)

Examining boring carts is for suckers ;) .
Grue! Posting in SPITE of my strict no-posting policy!
You should note that there aren't questions for help AFTER the point you're at. That's because the game generally gets less complicated after the Weeping Sands, so you shouldn't have any excuse not to finish.
Also, anyone else who posts in this thread should vigorously encourage McGrue to finish the game.

Christ, yeah. You're not even at the really good parts yet! Diver Down has a strange property where the plot gets more interesting as the cutscene art gets worse.

You mean it has to be a retail game to work?
...
Lie.

Well, Sully got posted:
a) before they were gamespot's whore affiliate.
b) by the god of gamefaqs.com, Kao Megura, who was a verger from v1 days.
Sadly, Kao is no longer with us, so there's no real pro-verge clout anymore over there.
Why they'd make a commercial game distinction is beyond me. You'd think they'd want the eyeball market on *every* game.
The solution to this is obvious, though. Gren, contract someone *cough*hyptosis*cough* to redo all your maps, and someone *cough*zathras*cough* to redo all your music, and sell the 'premium' edition of DD.

McGrue pretty much hit that one right on the dot. Ever since GameFAQs stopped being the private business of CJayC, they have to follow Gamespot's policies...
Oh, and I must add that way back when Kao made the Sully FAQ, he was highly revered in the GameFAQs community for his in-depth FAQs, and practically anything submitted by him would have been accepted.

That would be cool. *hint hint* :D

From the GameFAQs Contribution Documentation:
"In rare cases, non-commercial or personally-distributed games may be listed if they have a very large user base."
Petition time?

Frankly, I would discourage raising a stink at this time.

No. On his website. It's trivially easy to sell something if you've got the balls to deliver.

That sucks about GameFaqs. I had no idea. They must be hurting if they don't want to bother listing text files.
All the art in Diver Down was supposed to be redone. Metro wanted to redo all the tiles. And there are a lot of art cels that need doing (I left a lot of my placeholders in the game). It would be cool if I could get that done one day.
