Ackk! I'm getting swamped in emails asking about the bluebird's nest! Who was making the Diver Down walkthrough and where are you when I need you?!?!
:)
Seriously though, with this volume of downloads (it's only been posted 3 days), a walkthrough would get the attention it deserves.

About the Guide and Game
Diver Down is the first complete RPG created with the verge2 engine. It's an
indie RPG, so it plays on the only strength it can have, a good story. The
graphics aren't bad that it makes the game unbearable to play and the music
is good enough. The cut scene art is engaging. It has a few issues that
made me frustrated at the game and hopefully this guide will help you
through it.
It is being released incomplete since winter break is ending soon, so I wont
be playing any sort of computer games until spring break starts. At least I
solved all the frequently asked about puzzles that I saw in the FAQ. :)
General Hints
Investgate general objects. (Go up to them and press enter) You'll get
little interesting comments or hints to things or get things you need for
puzzles or other game events.
Read the Manual and FAQ for other Hints/Tips.

###############################################################################
################################# ACT I: ##################################
###############################################################################
What do you do with dungeon key in the start?
You can only use the key on one door. Go to the level you started at and open
the door under the fire.
How do I get out of the swamp area?
Go towards the lower left corner of the map. You'll see a camp with a few
horses. Talk to one of the horses. Then, go towards the upper right corner
of the map. On the shore between the land and swamp, you'll see tufts of grass
. Collect the grass. Go bacck to the horse and feed it. Then go to one of
the bags beside the horse to get a sadle. Go the horse again.
How do I get out of the Twilight Capitial Area?
You have to go to the town of emil and complete various miniquests in there.
(Dont buy the hide armour, it's useless for drek.)
How do I get the elder's son to move?
Talk to his mother in the right of the house and get her a blue bird's egg.
How do I find the blue bird's nest in emil?
Walk up to the bluebird at the entrance. It will fly away. Then go to the
elders house. You'll hear a cheep while your walking there. When your at
the elders house walk under the green part to the small tree to the left of
the house. Then walk under the green part of the small tree to the right of
the elders house. The bird will fly north. Just go north from there until
you get to a small locked house. Knock on the door and the bird will fly out.
You have found the nest.
How do i get into the house that contains the bluebird's nest?
You have to get 500 chinkits. First get to the pub, talk to the bar owner.
Buy a 100 chinkit quality drink. He will tell you that it's owned by the
prositute upstairs. Once you talk to the prosititute, you'll find out that
you have to pay her 400 chinkits to get in her house (greedy eh?).
How do I get chinkits in emil?
You can help the herb lady collect herbs. Go to the small locked house in
the middle-left side of town. Knock and she'll let you in. Talk to to her,
then read the white book on the bookshelf. Exit the house and go north over
the barrier. You'll be in the farm area. Just investigate the plants to
get the right ones. With the green plant, look for ones that are brighter
than the rest. With the blue ones, look for ones who's bulbs are lighter than
the rest. For the red berries, look for the pixel large berry thats brighter
than the rest of the other ones (hard to see). With the brown plants, look
for the darker plant. (Almost camoflauged.) Make sure to go through the
destroyed to get the other batch of plants on the other side.
But even when get the lady all the herbs she needs, you'll find out you'll only
get about 240-300 chinkits. I got really sick of playing hunt the pixel, so I
hacked the save game and modified the amount of the chinkits I had.
(See appendix)
If you cannot change the save game for some reason you can try a few other
things. The man with the sick daugter (in emil) and maybe a few other "secret"
and "side-quest" things (which I have no idea how to activate) could get you
some money. Don't try to solve the wolf problem, you solve that later on.
Now What?
Go to the elder's wife, give her the egg, talk to the elder, go to the pub
and order a $100 "Quality". Then go north to the outpost and try to enter.
Before you do although, I'd suggest you try to level your self up to level 2,
and buy as many yellow potions as you can. (get two antitoxins too) You can
try training in the cave at the upper right corner of the map. Theres are a
pair of people there who have a healing point, allowing you to fight wolves and
then get healed up again. Try to get the best equipment that you can. Do not
buy the hide vest, nobody can equip it.
How do I light up a cave?
Get a torch, It lasts for the entire duration that you are in a cave area.
How do I get some bomb ingridients?
Go to the bar for the alchohol, go into the maids room for the dust and some
money, go to the place where there are training dummies for wood chips and then
go to the bag inside the bar. You put the items in the bag by selecting them
in your invetory when your infront of it.
How do I get to the second floor?
You have to beat the sentry in the room infront of the room with the training
dummies. Check in the dressor for the dungeon key. Use the dungeon key on the
door to the very top of the area.
How do I get through the 1st sleeping guard maze?
This one is one of trial and error. It's not too too hard. You can figure it
out. One tip is that the large potted plants act like barriers to a guard on
the other side.
2nd Guard Maze?
Sorry, Didn't go through to see if there is anything. Maybe there is some
valuable things in there, or the game prevents you from going in.
Do the lockers have anything?
The upper left cluster, locker #4 has a white potion. The lower right cluster,
2 from the left edge has a yellow potion.

How do I solve the block puzzle in the Cruxen Mines?
See the Accompying Images for the Solution. If you cannot get the images, the
goal is to get the blocks inbetween the gaps. The blocks must be of the same
colour as the the two platforms on the upper level. The green blocks and the
blue blocks do not interact with each other in the puzzle. You will have to
use multiple blocks to create a platform for but one of the gaps. You can use
the other blocks as barriers to the other blocks.
Where is the old lady that sells the desert masks?
SHE IS HERE

Get a hex editor, note what is the exact value of chinkits you have for your
save slot. Convert the value to hex and then search for the hex value in your
save file (game*.dds, with the * charecter being your save slot number) and
then modify the value (and ajacient values going forward) to get more/less
chinkits. This method also works with exp and probably all the other number
based stats. (Chintinks are at 0x2308 and Drek's Exp is at 0x0E5C)
If you don't know how to use hex editors, the hex number system and other such
things, search (http://www.google.com/) for hex editor tutorials and such.
Hopefully you'll learn how.

Was this the first town of Diver Down? Took me forever. Man, that was so not putting your best foot forward. "I've been plunged into a dark and mysterious world, confused and hunted. I'd better do nonsensical fetch quests for idiots!"

Thanks, Hypno!
Meh, you need to get ONE thing in the first town for someone. I tried to make it seem as little like a fetch quest as possible. And it wasn't in the "Mysterious stranger, can you help us for no reason?" fashion. It was more like a shady deal. And you needed to make the deal in order to leave the capital for intelligent enough reasons.
The problem is, I made the game in order, so certain parts in the beginning are definitely weaker than later parts in the game.

I think everyone's least favorite part of that town is the rousing game of "Chase-the-bird" ;)

Getting an egg to give to someone so you can get papers pf passage doesn't count as an obvious fetch quest?

It IS a fetch quest. I admitted you had to get one thing in Emil. I was just saying it wasn't quite as bad as your 'nonsensical' statement made it. 1)There was a reason for it. 2)There weren't a bunch of things to fetch (as the 's' at the end of 'quests' in your sentence implies). And 3) it wasn't "Please hero, help me" style. That's all.

I'm pulling the 'Optional' card on this one!

I actually found something strange, for some reason in the first game I created (in slot 1) I couldn't capture the blue-bird's egg no matter what, I believe I made two new games in that slot and still no success. Then I created a new game, in slot 2, and suddenly the blue-bird quest worked.

I have no idea if this is the right place to put this, and probably not, so I apologise, but some guy's daughter died after I made peace with the wolves. Is there any way to save her? I could never find any pey plants before, so...

Well, there's no way to save her NOW ;) .
You needed to find the pey plant in the twilight outpost before that point in the game.

You can revive the girl if you get the White Materia, but to get it you need the water-breathing ability, which you can find by defeating Emerald Weapon.
