Oops, sorry! You're screwed.
Oh well, I don't know what to tell you. You didn't REALLY put 41 hours of playtime into this game, did you?
Yes I did...imagine that...on second thought...better not.

Northern grrl:
Your savefile should be easily hackable to trip the required flag. If you send it to me (my email is listed over at the bottom of the sidebar) I can make it work after a little while.

Ya, I've never hacked my own game in hex nor do I know how to. I gave the flags info in hopes someone else could do it. The deal is, I got a new computer and v2 stuff doesn't seem to be working right on it, so it doesn't look like I can do anything. What's more, I didn't allow patch files to overwrite the data, so a patch wouldn't work anyway. If someone could do the hex for me in the savegame that'd be nice. I'll email it to you Grue.

...if you wrote the save format, you should know where every byte is stored. By heart. Or you suck.

No, but you COULD theoretically grab the code for loading and saving save games from full Diver Down, and edit the nessecary flag via a VERGE program.
Aside from the whole V2 thing-not-working right now.
Maybe you need to port Diver Down to V3, Grenideer ;)

That, my friend, is true. Fortunately for my ego I didn't write the save format. Vecna did. Or whoever was the one who actually wrote winv2's ReadVars() and WriteVars() functions. In case you aren't familiar with them, they save all variables to a file and can conversely load them all back. There was no need to write a save format when v2 had one built in.

Fixed savegame file sent to you. A patch will be up on the official website shortly. You don't need this patch if you're playing from this game. In fact, you never need this patch at all unless you find yourself stuck in this position.

I'm having a crashing problem that I hope someone can help me with. I've made it to Lumen town, and am trying to get into the arena to fight for a ring. When I try to enter the arena, one of the guards tells Garret to remain behind. Drek says he'll continue on, turns around, and then the game crashes before he can take a step.
Does anyone have any suggestions I can try to get past this point? I did have the Cruxen Mines resolution/crash problem, but was able to get past that by editing one of the cfg files. (You might remember me mailing you about that a few days ago, grenideer.) I tried changing the resolution again in Lumen just to see what would happen, but it didn't seem to affect this problem.

This is exactly the same thing as the resolution change problem -- when you go into the arena, it flips to 640x480. You'll have to do whatever you did in the mines, I suppose.

I thought it might be; thanks for the confirmation. I did try changing to the resolution that worked in the mines, but it didn't work here. I'll have to try some others, I guess. Thanks. :)

Well, I've tried 640x480, 720x480, and even 1024x768, but it still crashes every time. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.

Man, lots of people had trouble in the mines, but I never heard one person say they crashed here. I've even had people beat the game when they crashed in the mines, so I thought for some reason the arena scene didn't crash.
Maybe I'll release a version of the game that doesn't change resolution. The puzzles would be hard though. In this arena scene I just change the resolution to get a wide shot of the arena and all the spectators, but it's not neccesary at all.
I'm at work now so I can't help you atm, but you can email me your savegame and I'll play through this for you. It is a boss fight tho, and a somewhat important scene, but nothing too cool to miss. Maybe I can patch the game tonight instead and you can play without the res switch. Just email me.
Why does winv2 crash on certain resolution switches? I'm just going from 320x240 to 640x480. It should be automatic but some older video cards die on it.
