I wouldn't say Grue is lazy, or doesn't really care about newbies. He made a completely different site engine around the exact time when the Verge 3 alpha came out. And I don't blame him for not working much, the PHP code is pretty ugly causing him and most other helpers only want to fix up the site codebase and improve it if they get paid. I'm attempting to improve the site since I have the source code, so I could see about getting some new fatures, but it's going to take a while.

I might redo some of the website's PHP from scratch, and leave the database interactivity alone if it's all right with Grue.

Joe, you are obviously much younger and dumber than most of the community here, but somehow you still think you know better than them, and you come off as very condescending. I'm sure you'll try to deny this in a long and rambling reply, so I'll save you the trouble. It's true, everyone here knows it but you.

My problem with you isn't with the things you are suggesting, it's with the way that you are suggesting it.

Oh ho. Nice one. A blatant insult. Even after someone shouted 'everyone - STFU', you still have the guts to reopen a fresh wound and pour rat poison into it.

The question is, why are you doing this? It cannot be for the community because we've pretty much come to a more-or-less unspoken consensus that stirring more things up isn't the way to go. I've realized my mistake, and I apologized for it. Or is it that you enjoy kicking someone who's already PWN3D?

If you're trying to chase me away, then I wish you luck. You'll need it.

I really suggest that you drop it though. Holding grudges isn't exactly a mature trait. Seriously, you need a hug. So here ya go:

No hard feelings mate. ^_^'

My problem with you isn't with the things you are suggesting, it's with the way that you are suggesting it.
Since that point is already conveyed, I could only guess that the true point of this statement is to demonstrate the effectiveness of repetition and how it enhances emphasis. Thanks for the tip. :)

That'll be swell. :)

Wow, this thread really slid into the absurd after a couple pages.

Coincidentally, it almost seems like old times. It's been awhile since we've had a troll with such gusto.

I'm appreciated. Wow.

Just out of curiosity, how long's 'old times' been? 3 years? Because it was apparently before I first came here, which was about 2 years ago.

Two years ago...Let's see. ...First...second...junior year high school...right, what else...er...darn it, can't remember...

Bloody.

There were some plays at school...maybe ...that was when I was trying to choose between simple scripting in VC or trying something like Python/C++...made a nice map engine somewhere. Read a Harry Potter book. Utterly failed to ask a cute girl to my junior prom. Ah! I made Great Gatsby: The Game as well, though there wasn't much to it. Maybe I should try porting that to Verge...

Ahhh... I remembered talking about the prom with a girl I was planning to go with - and finding out that she has some family business to attend to. *whimpers*

Oh Joe, stop being such a knuclehead. Yeah I said it, knuclehead.

As one of those lurkern00bs who hopes one day to have a couple of weeks of uninterrupted free time to sit down and figure out alot of this stuff, I'd like to point out, Joe's got a point about the ''new here?'' text.

It needs to be renamed to ''Beginners' Resources'' and moved inbetween Forums and Docs.

However, Joe, turn down the intensity knob some. :^/

Thanks Fox, you managed to coax McGrue out of his broodings and make that little enhancement. I'm sure Verge newbies from this day forward will worship this event as legendary. :D

Oh, you mispelled knucklehead, knucklehead. :)

Is this where we kiss McGrue's feet and suffocate him with glorious offerings?

Please tone down your aggressive overtones while in the moderated forums.

If you want to be obnoxious and insulting, please do it in Castle Heck. That's what it's for.

Aggressive overtones? I don't see how anything I've said lately are aggressive, except for some defensive remarks directed towards Jrhee. I guess some rogue embers caused some misinterpretation.

I meant no harm, and I mean none. Forgive me.

If anything, maybe you need a back massage, McGrue. It works wonders.

Yes, about 3 years ago or so... why do you ask?

I also agree, this whole thread needs to be moved to the castle.

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
Verge-rpg.com is a member of the lunarnet irc network, and would like to take this opportunity to remind you that regardless how babies taste, it is wrong to eat them.
