Hey guys krep here... anway Super Mario RPG was a great game back in the SNES days the thing that captivated me the most was the graphics... actually no changed my mind the battle system it was unlike anyother battle system i have ever played actually the only one of it's kind i have every played. It was so unique and original. It made me drool... you guys make any games like that or know where i can get something like that?

Actually im just really bored and i want to start a conversation of sorts.

You know what I recommend? I recommend we hook our PCs to our TVs and play Verge games just like the console games--with a gamepad and big screens.

I think Parallel 7 has a polished feel to it--it's Interference22's, and it's in the download section. If you want something fast, easy to get into and kill enemies, yet requires a bit of strategy to beat the final boss, try the....Milk demo, also in the latest Contest section, by Ness.

And, Zeux's World, in the Verge2 games by Zaratustra, is always a good example of...goodness.

There isn't really anything else like SMRPG, sadly.

I mean, at all, anywhere.

Im remember seeing a clone like Mario Rpg type game for rm2k but i don't wanna go thru the trouble of looking through the sites... i think it was in the rm2k.net site. What was your favorite part of SMRPG mine was fighting Culex the hardest boss in the game. Even though he wasn't the last boss. I love those types of games. It also reminds me of Final Fantasy seeing as how it has the FFIV battle theme when you enter the fight. I have a pic of fighting him (I think i was around level 30 when i fought him) its not mine though.

This is the picture but i wanted to show it for everyone on the thread can look at it without copy+pasting it... sadly i don't know how.

To display a picture just use this, and insert the correct address:

<img src="http://www.blahblahblah.com/whatever.jpg">

Which would give us this:

EDIT: I don't like HTML... :(

Commercially speaking you could try the following games, which are similar:

* Paper Mario (N64)
* Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga (Gameboy)
* Paper Mario 2 (Gamecube)

Not sure if Paper Mario 2 is out yet, actually. I'd have to check. Still, it WILL be if it isn't, eh?

It's probably not out over here because we're a third-world gaming nation. The yanks are even getting Fable before us... :(

Lucky sod. We've only just got Animal Crossing for Chrissake. I love my games, and sometimes I dispair at how much the UK is ignored, game-wise. We had to wait MONTHS for DX2 after it's US release and it wasn't even all that good. We're not all brain-dead FIFA 2004 players over here for crying out loud: I love quirky, interesting, intelligent games and it would be nice to GET some once in a while!

I'm *still* waiting for Geist, Baiten Kaitos and Giftpia!

I know. Sega Europe was utterly ...unremarkable. Back during the Saturn era, where Sega of America was at least remarkably incompetent, I've read.

I actually wanted to make a 'sequel' to SMRPG (at least more of a sequel than paper mario was, yeesh) in verge3... unfortunately, the complexity of trying to make a isometric system with full Z-axis in real time made my head explode. I'm still picking up the pieces. The unfortunate truth of the matter is that you would have to completely reprogram the entity and map systems, which I don't quite think I'm prepared to do. If anybody has come up with a simpler method involving maybe some smallish additions to the existing systems, feel free to let me know. :D

i dont think smrpg even really had a z-axis. it was just a rotated x and y axis
