Just downloaded the new version, and the bugger got me too... :D
Nice work.

[Edit: Hmm... Going onto the next page has rather confused the meaning of this message. Suffice to say, Duskbane is scary]

Wah! Didn't spot Zip had uplaoded a bugfix! There's a bugfix from me in there too now. Zip, send me the necessary files and I'll upload a NEW fix with ALL the problems fixed. Sorry about that. Please - for the moment - either install Zip's OR my bugfix, NOT both. Yargh.

Hehe, you should check your emails before uploading stuff. Nevermind :D
Parallel 7 is taking up rather a lot of contest space now - we really need a delete function for those uploads...
Will do, Interf. I fixed the .chr problem, moved the fight over a bit because there was an invisible blockage, ran the scientists around a bit, and poked a scary error message in my BS that didn't actually do anything, but was scary. Will send the stuff.

Yes. Sorry, I was in a rush after running P7 this afternoon (got up at 2pm!) and realising the battle comments were coming out wrong and the music wasn't playing because the battle system was trying to play a tune that didn't exist. Woops.

Ok, ladies and gentlemen, the bugfix is posted. Go grab the "Parallel7bugfix2" rar. NOT the others!
Edit:
NONONO! Bugger! Don't grab that either! Sorry to be an ENORMOUS pain but THAT's wrong too. Forgot to enclose the recompiled maps. Grab Bugfix 3 INSTEAD. McGrue, we REALLY need that file delete option!

I'm thinking of subtitling it Parallel Seven: The Bugfix Saga or Parallel Seven: How not to work as a team. :D
Seriously, we changed less than 10 lines of code, and all these silly patches have just been caused by confusion.

Glad you liked it rpgking! I scripted the damn thing, and made that sound effect, and still it made me jump every time it happened while I was testing! Look forward to more scariness for Duskbane complete, and probably a different key for confirm ;)

I have now uploaded a version which fixes the entity getting stuck at that one part of Phobos Project. Everything should work fine now. I also made the large tree much more pretty than it used to be (but if you got stuck by the bug, you didn't see the ugly tree that was there before anyways).

This HOV has been GREAT. I've currently finished playing Duskbane and The Phobos Project plus I had a go on Eine Verschmutzung too but the battle system confuses and astounds me. It's Mario Paint meets The Seventh Saga!
Duskbane: absolutely amazing graphics. Damn you, they're good! Troupe's soundtrack is suitably athmospheric too and the title theme is great (I've been playing it in Winamp). The atmosphere in general, in fact, is great. The Thief-like medieval steam-punk feel is something very close to my heart. By the way, what's the document on the title screen actually? I can make out something about birth dates
On playing the Phobos Project, two things came to mind: "Nice! 640x480!" and "Vortex? What the Jimmy Hill?" It's brief, but it's nice to see that a game I've seen in all its public forms (DOS v2, Winv2 and now v3) is still being worked on. Didn't expect to see it in a HOV, mind you.
I still have a couple more to get. Milk, Geas and maybe another one I think.
Edit: Hmm, "Milk" seems to have slipped onto page two of the contest directory. That'll be indirectly my fault thanks to all those bloody patches! McGrue, could you delete all but the latest patch and the main distributable?

Thanks Interference! Parallel 7 came out really nice by the way. The battle/menu systems are incredibly impressive for an HoV. But its damn hard! All these games are damn hard! Either that or I suck :(
You should register, Hyptosis.

The v3 docs presently suck.
I am sorry. I coded the docs section hoping others would fill it in.
:(
I'll try to help when I get time. I did make Toen, Gayo, and Zip all v3 manual editors to try and speed the documentation process along.
The rest of the community can make talkback comments whenever they'd like, though. Please do!

I think, for once McGrue, those weren't the docs in question. But now the HoV is by, I'll try and add a little each day. :D

So far, I have played Geas, Milk, Parallel 7, and Duskbane. Great stuff, everyone!
In Geas, I ran into a problem where I went into a house, and I couldn't get back out. Seems there wasn't a zone laid on the exit of the house or something like that.
In Milk, I couldn't get through the part where you have to follow the chicken's path (the part like in FF6). I think there might be a turn or two where you could make the "safe path" zone a little wider.
Parallel 7... I'm trying to remember what got me there. I think the drunk killed me. Yeah. I kept aiming for his head, and it would hit his arm instead.
I finished Duskbane. I want to know how you did the lighting.
About to play Eine somethingorother....

Hehe, yeah, the combat is rather harder than I intended - think of it as a way to add some playtime. But save, and expect to die a few times. So, combat tips for people who find it hard:
-Just like in real life, you won't always get what you hit on... I mean hit what you aim at.
-Unaimed will hit most often and is the quickest, but if you do pull of an aimed attack, you'll do more damage and have an extra effect. A:Body is useful as it delays the enemy and isn't too much harder than unaimed, but you might find a few good A:Arm hits useful in the last battle.
-Movement is important, try and make sure you get the first hit. Also, tackling the multiple enemies one after the other is easier than all at once.
-Make sure you heal back to full after the drunk battle. You'll need it.
-Keep Anna alive, the experience is useful.
-If all else fails, just try and get luckier next time.

Eine Verschmutzung has an extremely fun and innovative battle system. I love the spell system because you could literally cast a spell in your own style. My favorite spell type is the one that is cast when using the E button. You could make the ball-like things bounce off of each other, and onto the monster to do insane amounts of repeated damage(especially when paired with the opposite element). It took a while to figure out how the battle system works, but once I did, I could not stop playing it. I haven't finished the game yet, but so far I am very impressed.
BTW, for the E type spell, I found that it's best to place single dots instead of drawing a line... Same holds for most of the other spells. I like how you can also cast multiple spells at once on different monsters...
