I have been absent far too long to respond to this entire thread. So I may say in summation that I want to see Hypno and Zathras' music. Because Hypno was like my god in the old days, and Zathras is just... awesome. So I can't wait for SotS!

Oh and Alex, in case you were wondering, I am slaving away on a main theme for you. But I'm not sure if I want to continue now that I've seen your coding skills.

"Attack the enemy?"
"Yes"
"Are you sure you don't want to attack?"
"No, I want to attack"
"Yes, you won't attack"
"No, wait, what I meant was that I didn't want to attack"
"OK, so you will attack?"
"Yes, er... No..."
"Attacking!"

It's funny because it all makes fun of that False tag :)

It != funny because it makes fun of me! Slander my coding skills at your peril! And not attacking will not be an option. "!" is for cowards.

I remember when doesnotequal was "". Should be. Makes sense.

Troupe: Fine. If you have no confidence in my abilities, then you are of course welcome to cease contributing.

EDIT: God. "" should be "lessthan morethan", however the hell you get it to display those...

No Alex! If I didn't believe in you I wouldn't be spending all this time working on this damnable main theme! I am just in a state of constant jest, ignore me!

Alex

Yay, me too! AND you still haven't re-uploaded that stuff that you uploaded before but I couldn't get (despite my email reminder however long ago that was!). Unless you have, and I still can't get it... in which case upload them seperately and send me the linKs.

Re this thread: I like Zelda now, it looks pretty decent. Zelda question from someone who's never played Zelda apart from on Gameboy about 15 years ago: why is Link sometimes not an adult?

Oh. My. Gosh.

Usually Link is just Link. The Hero of Hyrule. Which is what you see in most Zelda games and Zelda 64 (adult Link).

However, Zelda 64 also focuses on Link's childhood years (which is why we have child Link...which is really just a teaser until we get to adult Link). Luckily the new Zelda gets rid of crapping cell shading, and gives us back the much cooler adult Link motif.

Hey, I actually enjoyed the Cel Shading of the Wind Waker. It obviously took lots of effort on Nintendo's part to get the game to look like an actual cartoon, and the game was fun all the way...

But, this new Zelda does look like it'll blow Wind Waker out of the water :P

As for what Alex said, in most games, Link is a child. It's a rarity to have an Adult Link...

You sure? I thought Link in Link's Awakening and Link to the Past looked at least adolescent. And they sure don't look anything like Ocarina's child Link.

Well, Miyamoto always said that his vision of Link is to be an innocent child, and that's why it appears that Link is a child(or young adolescent) in almost every game... In Link's Awakening and Link to the Past it looks like Link is a young adolescent... The only previous game that seemed to have a true adult Link was The Adventure of Link on the NES.

Well. Darn.

I still think I like Adult Link better.

Miyamoto thinks that "innocent" children run around killing things with swords? I bet Peter Molyneux doesn't think that. :P

You fail to see the symbolism in this. An innocent child is as pure as you can get. So it's basically pure good vs pure evil. If you were a kid and something that was pure evil tried to hurt or kill you, would you just stand there licking a lollipop?

Posted on 2004-05-26 19:18:00

Alex

Yeah, I would. I'd get an adult to kill the evil thing for me.

But what I meant was, kid or not, it's difficult to be both pure and a killer.

As interesting as the pure-good vs. pure-evil idea is, it's also kind of a paradox that this pure-good boy is a battle-seasoned warrior, because innocent often means unexposed or sheltered, rather than containing the purest of motives. Any adult can be innocent or noble.

Geez. I'm putting more thought into this than I should...

KilloZapit

If you ask me, most of the Links tend to be teenage, not a child or an adult.

Link *does* get training in the ways of the sword in WW. Just thought I'd point that out. He might be "innocent" but he certainly knows his hack from his slash.

He can't be innocent, he kills things with a sword! "Innocence" and "killing things with swords" are mutually exclusive!

Interference22

That's the idea: "innocence" evolves into "enlightened." Well, sort of.

Posted on 2004-05-27 12:56:05

Omni

You mean Adult Link.

Or, if by "enlightened", you mean those 8 year old kids on CNN who we hear accidentally "pulled the trigger" and their best friend "fell down."
