I hate you both. But, "interesting" code or not, at least it... EXISTS! At least I'm not just one amongst the faceless multitude who claim to be going to finish a game but lack the fortitude and determination to do so.

*cough*Perceptions*cough*
*cough*SagaoftheStars*cough*

EDIT: Interference, despite the fact that I am both insufferably stupid and the worst coder in the world, even I knew about "!". I just didn't see it. You write too small. :p

Saga of the Stars does not exist.

Hey, wait! I code. You just can't see it.

Geez. Insulting someone's code on a coding message board is like insulting their manhood or something.

Yes, it's worse than insulting their mother.

Alex, would you rather I worked on important features of vrpg and Sully to do my part to advance the engine to it's complete level, or would you rather I was working this very instant on SotS?

...because, frankly, I would much rather be making Onam do stuff than Darin. And I'd like to make Darin do stuff much more than making the database do stuff. However, there is a hierarchy of needs that makes it illogical for me to work on a v3 game when I haven't completed my obligations to v3 yet.

Frankly, I find your insinuations that I lack tenacity rather offensive. I actually broke with my active development of during the last few months of last year to create this very site from scratch. And then I had to tend to making money, and then I had to tend to the Sully Subsystems because vecna's working full time and can only do so much.

Only last night I was talking to Zathras about the changes to the game since last I'd given him a full rundown, tossed him a new script, and discussed the Final Boss's storyline evolution in depth. My current bathroom reading material, and reigning champion for several weeks, are Gayo's magnificent Battle System and Abilities docs (they are quite thick when printed out, and when read invoke images of joy). I built angelinterceptor.com for my original cel artist, Ira, to woo him back to the project pro bono, which is a blessing because his style is definitly unique, and because he is quite professional now, in the exacting sense of the word. I did the same for Hypno and Zathras, my trusted and wonderful musicians who've created nigh a full score over hundreds of hours of work over the years (although their site isn't up, That's because Hypno hasn't installed the zip of it I gave him yet).

So, if you want, if you think it is wise, I'll drop everything I'm doing free of charge for the verge community, neglect the things I've been doing for others so they'll contribute to SotS, and make my little freeware game for you immediately by myself, so that you can then, after the fact, say how much it sucks.

Well, SotS is OK, but it's no Fable.

Perceptions exists too, I'll have you know. The textbox routine I posted is from it and its been fairly useful in weeding out a few bugs in VERGE.

Being the devoute worshipper of everything VERGE that I am, I appreciate anything McGrue does. This site in particular. Question him and I'm fairly sure he will smite us all with his divine... thing.

Hmm, my ears are ringing with that noise you get when you're low on health in Metal Gear Solid. How odd.

McGrue, I wasn't actually being serious, and I'm very surprised you thought I was. I know of the work you do for the verge community (I have had my eyes open). All I can say is that if you took offence to that throwaway comment then I apologise, and you may feel free to hate me for the rest of time, as many do. There's not much more I can say than that, as no offence was intended so there is not really any defence I can make. And despite what you may think, I would never be so graceless as to tell someone their game sucks.

I would, only it would be a lengthy discourse that ended, "In conclusion, your game sucks." Thankfully, thus far I've never needed to do that. Nothing here sucks.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say you're the best dressed man I know. And you are very very clever. You're my hero, dude. Here, have my girlfriend. And my car.

This conversation of course occured in an alternative dimension.

Too late, someone else has already had my girlfriend. And the last car I had could only have been described as a "car" because it had four wheels at one time... I considered (must have been drunk or something) buying a used Lotus Elise a couple of months back (few years old, four uncareful owners, pretty cheap due to things wrong with it, but looked SO good). Then someone pointed out the insurance costs... ouch. This is why poor people can only have sports cars if they keep them jacked up on bricks. :)

Damnation. Sorry to hear about the girlfriend. That sucks.

I would like to be able to tell someone their game sucked (if it did), but it would be rather hypocritical... not to mention a bit mean. (Note: this doesn't count for all the games I've slated so far in other threads (or indeed this one), as they were not written by people )

Grue: You are an officer and a gentleman. Or at least one of those.

Omni: You are right. And that quadruple posting was the most audacious POSTCOUNT ++++++++ I've ever had the privilege to see.

I prefer a modification of that phrase: "What does not kill me isn't trying hard enough."

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
